Oh man.... I was watching that one - ebay auction link

I really, really fear this is not going to end well.

Of course. How else will you ever learn not to buy these kinds of rolls off of ebay again?

What does that mean? You cannot get an original bank roll with two different dates on the ends.

In my opinion you wasted a lot of money - but there could be something better inside!!!

Good luck with the roll. The winning bidder of the roll linked above has 98 bid retractions?

Apparently the OP picked up a different roll from another seller as he eventually noted below.

i've worked with buyers of these rolls claiming to have gotten key-dates and they were able to provide sufficient images that i was able to use to determine, they were ALL counterfeit. i truly hope that is not the case with your coins although the odds are not in your favor.

post some images of those coins and lets see what cha got image

I too have purchased a few rolls from this seller....denvercertifiedcoins......and I have found.....the rolls are a collection of overpriced, presorted, dressed up worn out pennies, with a few beat up semi keys thrown in, all in "old time" wrappers.....And after I complained and left less than wonderful feedback....I was blocked from buying from him again......

Also...I kept an eye on his auctions.....the same buyers claimed to have "found" numerous key coins....09-s VDB, 14-D.....etc......I bet you a shiny nickel those fabulous finds were dirty old counterfeits!!!!

Outstanding! One could buy all the rolls this seller has to
offer, sell the amazing contents coin by coin, and retire early!

  • seanqseanq Posts: 8,723 ✭✭✭✭✭
That is the second roll he's sold in the last month with a 1922 no-D on one end and a 1917-D on the other - here's the first. What are the odds, huh?

Why would a bank in Denver, of all places, have
rolls of Wheat cents and Indian Head cents in the 1960s?

  • well what about the coin? opinions please?

Yeap...not worth near what die pair 2 is with the strong reverse!

Even if it's a genuine 22 die pair 3, it's only worth maybe 300-400 tops if uncleaned in VF or so.

So, let's say you found another $200 worth of coins in that roll, which is highly doubtful. That would make you buried about $800 bucks IF the 22 isn't cleaned. Enough money to buy a nice PCGS or NGC slabbed 1922 die pair 2. For the full $1300, you could've bought a beauty.

OP / buyer says he got the roll from here, not the denvercertifiedcoins seller. I don't see any $1300 rolls (as cited in an earlier posy) in conyoncity_coins completed listings. FWIW.

I also did not pay this as I got it on a second chance offer I negotiated with the seller and got the 22 roll with 4 other rolls for 699.00
  • they have no neg feed back in 12 mo It was my gamble as to it being die 2 or 3.

Ok. You might make out all right. Are you going to try to slab the '22?

i also thought the link near the beginning of the thread was the coin being discussed, which has now been cleared up. tx

Troll nothin'! I think he's stumbled across the biggest
gold mine in numismatic history. Rolls of key and semi-
key Wheat cents and Indian Head cents, unsearched,
just waiting to be harvested and flipped for a handsome
profit. I wouldn't be surprised if there were a few
1916-D Mercury dimes in those rolls, accidentally
wrapped up by careless bank employees back in the
day --- and maybe even a gold dollar or two, if
you have a keen eye and know what to look for.

It makes no sense to me. I vote troll.

If not a troll, then I will have to say the OP is a very astute business man and destined to become very wealthy, having discovered this goldmine of opportunity. Hope your luck continues.

  • vote how you like I am no troll I was just supporting my purchase because someone had the listings messed up. I don't want to sell you anything as the 2 coins from the roll are already sold. Instead of bringing judgement down appon me why not just ask me a question or send me a private msg to discuss it. I paid good money for that roll and took a chance and it paid off for once. Don't be so salty!!!!!
