Came across this ad on Craigslist. No pic on the ad so asked him to send me one. Could it be real?

I emailed him and asked to clarify. His response to my first email was "Yes and its a Morgan silver dollar 1895 w/o mint". Can be taken either way.

The ad clearly states it is an O mint mark. His ad title asks for $250,000, while his description asks for $25,000. Either way, I would not trust anyone on CraigsList for coins. It is a good way of getting yourself into trouble, in my opinion. Stick with dealers and eBay (if you know what you are doing).

Scam fail. Putting a worm out there hoping to rip someone off. Shady double entendre wording is not an accident. Run from this, don't walk.

Yeah it smelled funny right out of the gate. He hasn't responded to my email asking about the mint mark.. Surprise??

I don't think the coin is even real. The date looks funny in the blurry pic. I wouldn't be surprised if someone tried to examine it in person and ended up getting robbed.

That makes good sense. Anyone willing to check out an item they had to pay that much for is telling the "seller" "Hey, I got loads of cash and it is probably on me right now in case I decide to buy.."

Can definitely turn into a bad situation. I would never spend even close to that kind of money without meeting somewhere like a coin shop and do the transaction there and have it authenticated. All in all, blurry pic of only the obverse, no response to asking about the mint mark, unclear of his asking price, etc, way to shady. I wouldn't totally sign off on buying coins off of Craigslist. I've made several purchases and for a great price. Just gotta be careful. Most of the time people are selling because they need the money right away so it's a win/win as I've made several purchases for basically melt value and haven't ran into any counterfeits. Yet. I bought that Whitman set off of Craigslist that I posted on here a while back and for a great price.

Tell him you will bring cash but you have to meet at the Police station. I have done it in the past just to see what the seller say's.

Plus why would anybody pay that much anywho. There are a bunch on ebay from $350. up to a grand.
