Home Trading Cards & Memorabilia Forum

First post, nice to meet you all

A little background: I was a teenager that got caught up in collecting in the mid-1980's. Mom and Dad gave me the 1984 Topps complete set for Christmas, then I followed the hobby closely through the 1980's until I went off to college. Didn't think twice about baseball cards for 20+ years until this past June.

I started going through my old cards as well as some 1970's football cards that were left in a closet when we bought our home. I am a high school teacher with plenty of free time in the summer, so going through the cards really sparked my interest again. I learned about grading, got addicted to going through eBay listings, got screwed through Craigslist, made some sales online, joined PSA, got my first two GEM MINT grades, visited a couple of local card shows, and now I have created a monster. Found this message board and am really enjoying all of the great information that is helping me to become a better collector, buyer, and seller.

Now, a question that you might be able to help me with. When should I start to worry about a PSA submission not showing up on their site? I sent a box of 50 with signature confirmation, and it was delivered last Wednesday. Does it typically take them a week or so to put it in the system? Getting a little nervous, even though my submission would certainly qualify as peanuts to many of you here.

Anyway, glad to be here and looking forward to future conversations.

    Hi there,

    Welcome!

Don't worry too much about the logging times of PSA. They could take anywhere from a few days to multiple weeks at times to get logged in (displayed on the site). I have (4) orders in that delivered on 9/30 that still have not been logged yet. Also, make sure you write the service day/level on the outside of the box; they state that it helps.

    Again, welcome!

Welcome to the boards and the nice introduction. I have had a few orders there that they have not logged in a while and I am constantly checking but they always come through so just be patient. Congrats on the gem mint grades, care to share what they were? Even if it is modern, it is cool to pull a few 10s early in the game. Sharing your pop results can be fun for the rest of us too, even if a few of us generally collect something else (like wrestling cards).

One was a 1981 Topps Henderson/ LeFlore Stolen Base Leaders, and the other was a 1983 Topps George Brett All Star.

But, man, did I learn a lot from that first submission. Thought I was sending off the world's finest box of perfect 10's and was humbled very quickly.

Been there, done that. I had a 100 card submission that only yielded 1 10 - a 1992 Topps Cal Ripken.

Welcome to the boards - a lot of real knowledgable folks here.

    Welcome!

Try to have patience with the subs, I know I sure didn't have much on my first sub and it drove me crazy! LOL.

    Greg Maddux
    1948 Bowman
    1957 Topps

Maddux just because he is my favorite player. Started 1948 Bowman because I wanted to try to complete a vintage set and it is so small. 1957 Topps came about when I bid on a couple of set breaks and started compiling several dozen cards, so that one is just kind of random.

Welcome aboard. When I first started collecting again I ripped a box of 79/80 Topps Basketball. I submitted too many cards from that box and learned a lot from that experience. Good luck with your upcoming submissions.
