What would you do?

I have a very small collection of nice cards (54 Aaron psa 8, 51 Mantle PSA 5, Robinson SGC 86, and a few more. I am looking to add to the collection by either getting a nice Clemente PSA 7, or upgrading my T206 Cobb 4 to a 5, Jordan 8 to a 9 and Jim Brown 7 to an 8. Im thinking roughly 3000 either way. Or completely off track, adding to my opened wax.

Putting emotional attachment and pure fun to the side for a moment, what would you think the best chance of value appreciation is?

As always, thanks for any input, Tom

  • I was really hoping that this post had something to do with a Klondike bar....just sayin.

In my opinion, I'd go with the Clemente. Seems to be more of a desire for cards from that era these days than tobacco.
  • Aaron should see a bump after he passes away

I think the Brown very nicely centered with a great image and solid black oval in PSA 8 has significant opportunity to appreciate at a greater rate than the others.
  • Hands down the 54 Aaron PSA 8. Thats a sick card already and ThoseBackPages is absolutely correct. That card will be seeing a huge bump is more like it sooner and quicker than any of the ones mentioned from your list.

Can we get a scan of it? I would love to see it.

I may not have been clear with my original post. I already own the Aaron and that's not going anywhere.

I can never scan cards here but if someone can do it, I can scan them the card.

Anyone believe the unopened mid 70's through mid 80's has better appreciation potential?

A Clemente would be nice, but if you are only thinking of the investment factor, spend it on unopened.

no doubt unopened will appreciate quicker than any of the cards that you mentioned. If you have a very nicely centered Aaron rookie I would be happy to load you up on unopened material for that card. I am in the market for a sweet Aaron.

Do you think 2nd and 3rd year cards for Aaron will also go up significantly?
