Initially I thought that Apmex started grading their own coins! That would have been quite an interesting news...

I guess it is pretty plain to see this graded bullion scheme for what it really is.

Wow, I am afraid that I have to totally agree.

Slab collectors will jump at the opportunityimage And why not, they have been paying huge premiums for "unique" slabs and not the encased product.

Hey, it's still a grading opinion, and that's the service that was sold, and paid for. If you don't like the label, crack it out since you now know the grade.

That being said, I avoid the Mercanti, Deihl and now this label simply because I don't like them. I do not like them, Sam I am.

I've cracked out a bunch of my extra MS-69 and PR-69 Plats, and I'm contemplating cracking the rest of my 69s out as well. More compact storage for coins that basically have no premium due to "the label".

I'm also finding out that my coveted MS-70 FS label on a very scarce low pop coin is not bringing within 15% of the price guide. That may simply be because of diminishing coin premiums, or it may be because the label doesn't really have the market it's supposed to have.

    Just sayin'.

    "Exclusive Label!
Now the exceptional Gold American Eagle is even more desirable. Not only does this fractional issue come certified as a perfect MS-70 by PCGS, it also comes with an exclusive eBay Bullion Center label! You will not be able to find these products anywhere else, so be sure to get yours while they are available!"

No big deal. I wouldn't pay extra for it. But I wouldn't dismiss the item for a slab like that. In fact, I might opt for it given a choice. Ampex is well known. eBay is well known. Might help in its liquidation at a future date.

Everything else equal with the coins and price, I'd prefer the regular PCGS label to the "dual advertising" label.

  • WHY would PCGS wanna put ther name next to ebay like that?

With the amount "new" collectors buying "fakes" on ebay to find out later the coin was a chinese piece of **** then getting a bad taste in there mouth, wouldent this hurt the pcgs name? I dont know what to think of it but I think of it the same way as I do TV. When the cable company pays me to watch there garbage with all there commericals and so on then I will go back until then I will stick with netflix!

    I will pass on that

It does tend to distract from an actual PCGS MS70 grade.
