    Placing the coins in dirt is one way to make the coins seem more lustrous than they are in hand, so be careful. image

    The coin appears to be one of the Chinese counterfeits. The obverse has the black tone like one I am holding in my hand. I did not download the pictures and look at the reverse, but I would BEWARE!

    Agree. Looks fake and similar to the ones coming out of china these days.

    Worry is the interest you pay on a debt you may not owe.

    The obverse photo appears to show a seam on the side of the coin.

    A fake coin photographed in the dirt seems somehow appropriate.

    Yeah actually looks like cast counterfeit...still not too often someone photographs a coin on the ground!

    Laying on dirt/gravel, obviously cleaned - no tarnish despite claim, rim edge appears to show 'casting' indicators... Run - don't walk, run away.... Cheers, RickO

    We could speculate. The old lady threw him out. He's living in a tent. He's got all his belongings in a knapsack tied to a stick. From the campsite, he's listing with his smart phone. The old lady probably didn't buy any of the story , either.
