Both look fine to me. Agreed on the centering on the top one, kind of surprised it got an 8.5. Are you wondering about the different colors on the grade (silver/gold)?
The 9.5 is definitely better centered. I believe the measurement used for R/L is the thick gold bar on the bottom right (left is to the left side of the black in the Stadium Club logo). I'm not sure how T/B is measured, but may use that same measurement.
IMO both trimmed. You see it all the time on Beckett cards from the 90s. In a nutshell, looking at a card straight on, you should never be able to see the side edge of the card, which should be facing 90 degrees away from you. The top edge is visible on both and the right edge on the 9. If you need to see what I am talking about, look at the left edge, it is invisible, just falls off, on the right, you can see white.
Very common on the reverse of BGS 94 arods that seem to have clean borders. Key word, seem.
Open to the possibility of sheet cut as well, but my gut says trimmed.
Interesting. Not trimmed. Both pulled direct from sealed sets.
I subbed together and suspect they swapped the cards by mistake upon slabbing. The card in the 9 slab is the 9.5 and vice versa. There is a touch in the lower right edge of the 9.5 which makes it the 9. The card in the 9 is the correct centering - i have psa9 with same centering.
Sorry for being dense. What am I missing on the Trout card?
"My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. Our childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When we were insolent we were placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds - pretty standard really."
I checked out the pictures of the PSA 10 Jeters on Ebay and while top/bottom centering varries significantly, the l/r centering does not. The PSA 10 examples have l/r centering similar to the BGS 9.5 pictured here.

If that's the case, then the PSA 10s on Ebay are also trimmed.

That's a great point and I didn't check those. I was looking at my 9 and others though. I actually prefer the centering of my 9.
I am sending them both back and letting bgs confirm they didn't swap by accident.
Far more common than anyone wants to know. It is wild to look at in hand. Hold the card flat and see that the border is more of a 45 degree angle than its original 90. No idea how it is done but see it all the time on bgs 94 sp arods among others.
From what I recall of the issue, BGS got the centering correct on both as they are labeled. trout is always too fishy for my taste. However, fresh Parcells, er, tuna should never smell or taste fishy.

A bad pun. Fishy, Trout, haha. >>
Thanks for clearing that up. I fell for it hook, line and sinker .

If anything, I would suggest you send the 9 back in for a bump if you feel it's worth the shot, and hold on to the 9.5 as is.

The Trout card is indeed quite fishy.
Thanks all.
