Does anyone know if he got hacked?
I purchase about $60 in gold nuggets a month from him, and have been for over a year with no problem. Then, with my last order, he abruptly cancelled the order but didn't refund my money. When I went to "Ask the Seller a question" a German eBay splash page opens.
Here's one of the transactions in question:
Little nugget
The weird part is, he has zero items for sale at the moment.. at any given time, he has about 200 auctions running, selling gold in $15 to $200 lots of small nuggets.
UPDATE.
I heard from the seller today after opening a Paypal dispute:
Hi David,
I'm very sorry, however, the IRS seized about $5,800.00 from my PayPal account and they would continue to seize any funds that were added.
The money in my account was actually money owed to my suppliers. The gold couldn't be shipped until I paid for it, so many of my buyers had to get refunds from PayPal as they guarantee your funds.
I had to transfer ownership of my gold business and will stay on to consult for a few months.
Hopefully, after you get your money back, you will make purchases from the new owner of my account.

<< <i>Thanks for the help, guys! I took DerryB's advice and called Paypal. Within 10 minutes I had a claim open and it looks like I won't have much trouble getting my $$$ back. The Paypal rep mentioned the buyer was having an issue with the IRS... not sure what that is all about. >>
It's very unusual for an ebay or paypal rep to tell one party anything about the other party's account. The fact that the paypal rep sees anything to do with the IRS in an account (paypal account frozen by IRS?) tells us IRS is looking at paypal accounts. Those not reporting income into paypal accounts should take note of this.

<< <i>OP link no longer valid. If it was an ebay purchase and you paid with paypal it's time to initiate the claim. Claims take time. Best way to initiate is over the phone with paypal (1-888-221-1161). I can tell you from experience it is always better to file the claim with paypal and not with ebay. When you dial the number keep repeating "agent" to the prompts until you get a live person. Explain the situation and tell them you would like to go right escalting the claim to a dispute because it appears the seller account has been hijacked. The refund process takes time but it does work. Filing claims with ebay takes longer and requires more phone calls to them to keep them moving along. Filing the dispute now will also alert paypal to the seller account where they will likely freeze all funds until resolved. >>
The other issue with a complaint to Ebay is they often just ignore you or do a cursory investigation (ie nothing) and tell you there's nothing they can or will do. Been there, done that.
Such as when the seller has your money for an item and stated that they never shipped the item (in that particular case it was a lifted auction that the seller recopied...they never
owned the item question, another coin dealer did though). Yeah, stick with Paypal.
I buy from him are about 6 nuggets to a gram. As odd as it sounds, with nuggets that fine and a chopstick you can write words/designs in gold nuggets and it looks cool.

I'm not sure what you are talking about here. Can you provide a pic of what you are talking about?
