I seen this listed the other day and laughed when I noticed the price was $299, never did I think someone would buy it!

Yeah, while I would never in a million years pay close to that, the case could be made that what's your alternative? The only other 90 OPC boxes I've seen went for $40 BIN right after getting listed.

Personally I dont recall ever seeing 1990 OPC. I wouldn't know if this were a bad price or good price.

I think it's easier to find a virgin working in a brothel house then a box of these.

I'm not upset about this at all. I guess it may look that way but not the case.

I guess when I look to buy, I research for the best reasonable price I can find.

This year of OPC seems to be an abnormally big set with 700+ cards. And usually there is less cards in a box (I think). So I dont think every box would warrant a Thomas, if my math is correct.

You are correct and may also lose some cards because of the gum.

The factory sets are the way to go imo. I cracked 3+ cases 1989 opc factory sets and cards were crisp! I would think the 1990's are the same way.
I screwed up on my 2nd trip up to Canada. When I bought the 1989 set cases, I passed on the 1990 set cases. Twice as many cards and all I was thinking about was how much it
would cost me to ship them all back because of the weight

Maurice ~ Is there any particular reason you're going after Tom? To my knowledge, he hasn't done anything that would justify questioning his reputation. If he states a card isn't his, he deserves benefit of the doubt IMO.

    Here's why I disagree:

    1. Tom said it is not his. I have dealt with Tom and spoken with him at length several times about OPC baseball. He's never been anything but honest and straight with me and I take him at his word that it was not his card. We've talked about the 80's OPC he's found on his trips to Canada and I do not recall him ever talking about '86.

    2. There is not a single 1986 OPC baseball card on Tom's website. Seems weird that he would crack enough product to turn up this card and not have any other '86 OPC.

Also, I will bet $250 that Tom can produce 1990 OPC baseball boxes in his hands within 3 weeks. We can find a suitable neutral party to put the money in escrow if anyone would like to take this bet.

Also to be clear, I have no problem with Maurice and in fact I generally like his posts and feel like he adds value to many discussions, even if he is a bit rough on people at times.

I am not sure what Maurice's strong points are, but I consider Tom an expert when it comes to OPC. If he says he knows the value of an OPC unopened box and where to get them, I would just assume that was a fact.

Supply and demand.......that's the only thing that matters here.

If that was the only 1990 OPC box offered on Ebay, it would be smart for the seller to ask whatever he wants to ask for it and just let it ride. If someone wants it enough, they'll pay the price. I don't find anything wrong with that. Unless of course I want the item, really really badly and it's the first time in forever I've seen one available. Then I would post my frustrations on a message board asking"What's wrong with people???"

  • << <i>Also to be clear, I have no problem with Maurice and in fact I generally like his posts and feel like he adds value to many discussions, even if he is a bit rough on people at times. >>

perhaps He would be better off withholding some of His unfounded accusations and just hang out and post with us.

btw, what is so amazing about 1990 OPC product that it would cause grown men to have a slap-and-tickle argument? sheesh. come on guys.

the important question we must all ask ourselves is: Will Tom need to claim dual citizenship and become part Canadian in order to continue his ascent to the very top of Mount O-Pee-Chee? that would be brutal.

Searching Ebay for 1990 (opc, o-pee-chee, o pee chee) there's not a single baseball box, wax pack, or complete set that comes in searches. Maybe OP had it confused with Hockey.
  • I remember seeing 90 OPC Baseball boxes for sale her in Canada. They were trampled over in the rush to get 1990 OPC hockey as that was the height of the hockey craze. There should be some around in closets and basements as they never garnered much attention.

Vlad's cert report above just proves yet another error by Maurice. If you were a man you would apologize to Tom for your baseless accusation, but that isn't consistent with your "hit and run, then hide" posting style.
