Would you crack and resubmit any of these?

I know it's hard to tell from scans if a card is resub-worthy, but I'd appreciate any thoughts on the following cards. I would crack and resub them - there doesn't seem to be much chance of a lower grade and I've had good luck in the past doing it.

This 61 Clemente has very sharp corners but there is a light print line that runs vertically down through the bill of his hat. The black dot in the upper left corner is a common characteristic of this card. Would it have a chance of getting an 8?

Would the bottom left corner of this 63 Banks keep it from bumping to an 8?

This 63 Drysdale is one of the nicest 63's I've seen. Any chance it could 9?
image

This 63 McCovey is really another nice example - could it 8 or is the bottom left corner holding it back?
image

This 63 Gibson really wants to be in an 8 holder - any chance?

Think either of these 75 mini's could bump to a 9? The print dot on the left side of the Robinson hasn't kept other examples of getting a 9.

This 62 Spahn seems an easy 8...but maybe the bottom corners are showing just a little too much white?

I'd love for this 65 Mays to bump to an 8 but maybe that's wishful thinking - can't find much wrong with it though. Thoughts?

Thanks for any comments!!!!

The grades look spot on to me, but one can always hope. JMHO

I could see the Spahn and Mays in 7.5 holders...

  • I have to agree, they look pretty accurate although the '65 Mays does look like it should be an 8
    It never leaves you...
  • Well if nice centering is the strongest shot at a bump then the 7's have a shot IMO. I wouldn't crack them though. Hard to judge just off scans but I'd say the sevens have a shot. That SGC would come back a 7 or an 8 I bet if the rest of the card is strong you might pull an 8 on the Gibson but centering wise as with alot of the SGC 7.5's it's a 7
  • Just looked at the Gibson again and I'd say if it went to Psa it comes home in a 7. To many chips in the red

Why crack them and why not just review them? Do you think the odds are better that way? Just curious as to your experiences as I've had some success with reviews

  • that is some fantastic centering
i'd give the clemente a shot
    and the 65 mays
agree on the crack out - don't do it - send in for review.
regardless those are some fantastic cards.
  • 65 Mays for sure.
The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was to convince the PSA 10 collector he didn't exist.

I would say the only two that might be worth a shot are the last two ... Spahn and Mays. If you crack 'em out I can't see them coming back less than a "7" ... but one never knows for sure.

Good luck with these. Let us know what you decided to do and the outcome.

    That's what I was thinking.
Great cards I would love to have them for myself.

I've never tried the review process. Maybe worth a look - I'll do some research on it.

    Thanks for the opinions!

That is exactly what I thought after looking at all scans. The other cards just all have a bit too much wear on the corners. I think you would be in store for a t least a .5 bump on one.
