New to the board just introducing myself

I am new to the board but not the hobby. The first pack of Topps I opened as a kid was 1980 and I've been hoarding ever since, with a few breaks here and there. My interests are mainly baseball and I'm currently putting together a 1956 Topps set on the registry in 7 to 8 grades. I am also working on basic runs of Brooks Robinson, Hank Aaron and Koufax in the same grades. I'm an active duty Marine just back from deployment and have spent many a morning scanning this board staying up to date on my hobby which always helps keep me sane while I'm away. I figured why not start talking instead of just scanning the threads. Looking forward to talking baseball and just sports in general with everyone here!

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
  • I appreciate the welcome, there is a great amount of hobby knowledge on this board and to be honest I find that hard to come by lately. I can go to a card show or shop and sometimes it baffles me what they seem to not know about the hobby or sport or sports in general.

Welcome to the boards! The 1980 Topps cards were the first packs I ripped in quantity to try to complete sets. I thought it was the coolest thing when the cashier at the party store said I can take the display box when I bought all the reaming packs in the box. Still have that box today.

Welcome sir! Lots of vets here. Me, 20 years in the Air Force, worked on jet engines and now work medical equipment. I'm currently a field service engineer with Becton Dickinson but looking to go back to BAMC or now SAMC (San Antonio Military Medical Center). Let us know if you need anything. The knowledge here is incredible and there are a lot of guys who can answer your questions.
