Take the card in hand and look at it under light and feel it. It is wax. I have the exact same thing on the back card of my 78 wax rip as well. I can see where it can be confused on a scan, but in hand, it is clearly wax and not gum.
As someone else pointed out as well, the gum would not be perfectly sideways in the exact center of the card. The roller would.
Definitely wax. Common on 70s wax packs when card on back faces inward.
