Never knew the ebay handle, good to know. Would that mean he is done on ebay?

Sorry to hear about this. I was not aware of him being a problem here or on eBay. Never heard of the eBay profile. I hope that you can find some resolution to be compensated or track him down so that he may be beaten to the brink of death. Only of course if what you say is the truth. image

This is yet another case that proves we need a FEEDBACK SYSTEM here. I've been calling for it for some time, Wouldn't be that hard for CU to do a simple upgrade to install it either. It would be incredibly helpful to reduce these kinds of circumstances.

I wish you the best uofa1285.

I've had several PMs w/him re: GSA COAs, etc. Something inside told me that like others, he was just fishing for info,

and nothing came out of the PMs.

    Hi Doug,
Just to let you know, I just bought 5 NGC Morgan dollars from FreddieH last week with a personal check and I received the morgans very quick. I hope he sees this thread and gets back to you. Good Luck Doug,
    Dan
  • it's terrible to hear of stories like this. it ruins trust and the BST section of these boards.

We have to use references. I've purchased from countless people on here this year and I've asked for references 99% of the time and it has always brought me comfort. I've also passed up deals that seem too good to be true because the person has no posts or just joined the boards, doesn't own a camera or doesn't accept paypal. You have to be very careful.

I hope you are able to work this out!

PCGS provides the BS&T as a courtesy. I doubt they want to get into implementing a feedback system or get into any other kind of complications. A feedback system of some sort could open them up to liability if something went wrong with a transaction with a highly rated member. The vast majority of trades go off smoothly on the BS&T. If it aint broke, don't fix it.

Sorry to hear about your experience. Why can't people do what they say and say what they mean? It's any easy concept that takes little effort. Hopefully the seller will do the right thing. I've never had an issue with anyone, maybe one or two that were out of town, IMO doesn't even count. They do have a "Kudos Thread - post positive buying experiences on the boards" ATS the street, just a suggestion.

Sounds like they are likely in CA (San Jose area) as that is where Ebay, and maybe Paypal, is and he references SJSU students?
If you are in that area, I would try to show up at the offices and ask for him and state why....I would also think about filing fraud.

This is just another reason that, for folks I don't know, I will use paypal and/or a credit card. Maybe not that popular with some folks wanting to eek out every cent of profit, but it helps handle situations like this.
If someone says "only paypal gift", even if I pay the fee, then I won't deal with them.

The above is only if I haven't dealt with them and/or have no reason to trust them. For the folks I trust, I will deal in cash (in person), personal checks, MOs, cashiers checks, etc....whatever is easiest for them.

At the end of the day, I do like the system here and don't believe it needs to change to suit a few, but it does suck when something like this happens and I wish you the best in getting some satisfactory resolution on this.

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

I wish that someday CU would require registering a verifiable IP address for participation here.
That would bring the perpetuation of alts and scammers to a screeching halt.

    As Bochiman stated....

"If someone says "only paypal gift", even if I pay the fee, then I won't deal with them."

There has been more than one incident on these boards where stuff like this has happened.
Fortunately they are rare and almost everyone here is top notch.
Using Paypal gift if selling is fraud pure and simple.

To Err Is Human.... To Collect Err's Is Just Too Much Darn Tootin Fun!
  • Im not sure what's happened here but I posted a similar thread last week exposing the moderator over at Lincoln cent forum for being a lying , fraud of a seller whom. The man in question has many close in the community befriended and they live in denial. The facts were blantently obvious and while some remain clouded by his smoke ...friends, buyers with big pockets and other aquantunces who he supplies coins to continue to be blinded by his smoke screen.. the fact remains....

There are many people in this world that manipulate , feed off drama or will do anything to get ahead. Those who play the political game always seem to make friends with just the right people to remain innocent within the eyes of the majority of people. And even such a man's friends will do anything to cover his tracks , for believe you are dying for an important cause and you'll put passion into believing what you want. The community holds many fools , and sellers with snakeoil etc. How many Michael Jackson cases were there anyway before people started to see things in a new light ?

I hope it works out For you and you guys need to come to a mutual outcome

You may want to 2nd guess posting PM history here. That is seen as a rather uncool thing to do.

I am not 100% certain of this, but I believe they do. Here's why. Although I hope that I am not viewed by the community here as a "alt or scammer", when I was serving my 3 month ban sentence, I'll admit that I did try to create a new profile from the same computer and was not allowed to do so.

Now if you're an existing/active member here and try to create a new profile from the same computer you may be able to do so, I don't know, haven't tried to.

And if you're an existing/active member here and try to create a new prfoile from a different computer you may be able to do so, again, I don't know, haven't tried to.

In conclusion, and speaking from my own experience from when I was banned for calling out a PCGS grader (in hindsight, maybe wasn't the smartest thing to do, espceially here image, I didn't scam anyone, I wouldn't have been allowed back if I did) I believe there are some "walls" in place, at least for a person who is banned.
Maybe a Mod could speak to this and clear the whole thing up? And I am still for a feedback system for here, but if it is not the majority concencus and members would rather have circumstances like this arise from time to time, then all I can do is follow along and play by the governing rules.

Oh, and I'm glad to hear that this matter appears to be being resolved by mutual agreement.
