Here`s my lonely example...

Just think it`s special to have any coin with such an important name in numismatics.

I agree.
What kind of premium does an Eliasberg coin bring?
<< <i>I know someone on the forums that has a Semi-Key(IIRC) Mercury Dime...maybe they will post it. >>
This is one of a few Eliasberg coins I own.

Even holey, it's one of my better coins. To Eliasberg, it must have been nothing more than a stray piece of junkbox rubbish. Haha.
It is a Roman/Byzantine gold solidus of the eastern emperor Zeno, struck shortly after 476 AD.
It is one of only two pieces of ancient gold I own. Have ever owned, in fact.

This Half Eagle was last auctioned by Scotsman in St. Louis. I was the underbidder, RYK was the high bidder. About a year after the auction, RYK graciously sold it to me. The star designation was awarded for the reflective fields and contrasting devices.
My only current Eliasberg coin is also a CAR gold piece:
New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.
<< <i>No pix, but mine is a 1944-P Merc in 65. I think I paid about a $40 premium for the pedigree. >>

I WANT TO SEE IT!!! That $40 premium sounds pretty darn cheap, I doubt the Newman coins will have a premium so small, but of course we are 17 years later and are in full swing with the internet these days etc.
I would not assume much of a premium for the less desirable Newman coins.
Even at Eliasberg, lots of coins brought no premiums. In fact, I bought more than 100 Australian gold sovereigns from the Eliasberg sale for less than melt. (Granted, the buffet lunch had just been set up and the room emptied out almost completely, in seconds!)

Andy, it will be interesting to see what happens, no doubt about that!

Here's an 1847 Nicholas I gold 5 rouble. It was purchased by Eliasberg from Stack's on November 7, 1945. Unfortunately, my son left his camera with a friend, and I am unable to get a good photo of the reverse at this time.
I sold this coin recently. Somebody offered me about triple what the coin was worth without the Eliasberg provenance. I am now missing an 1870 trime from my collection; however, I used the proceeds to buy a PCGS 1858 in the same grade, lol. I'd say my collection is better off without the Eliasberg. Incidentally, this coin was from the Clapp collection, and those are the only Eliasberg coins of interest to me.
<< <i>
Nice to see Clapp listed there, instead of just Eliasberg. My regard for Clapp is at least ten times greater than Eliasberg.

Here's the mate to RYK's piece. Both are ex-Eliasberg and graded XF45; the PCGS pop is 2 in this grade. We are thinking of getting these two together soon, over adult beverages.

Subsequent research (contained in Mr. Eliasberg's "little black book") revealed that the piece was purchased from B. Max Mehl in October 1940, as Uncirculated, for $7.50. The photo is courtesy of BluCC.
This one?
This one was in a green holder when I acquired it.
