<< <i>There is a bidder with 9 feedback currently that seems to be quite active in the recent PSA 9 Mike Schmidt auctions. >>
It looks like he has no interest in actually buying the card. It appears that he is just interested in supporting the price. Price manipulation in action!

<< <i>Yah, I won 3 Schmidt 9s after losing out for many years - they all came up at once and I basically decided to put in snipes over 2k to ensure I didn't lose (they were around 1.3K for years with one auction below 1K for what I think was an inferior 9 if my memory is accurate). I am sorry is that somehow unethical? I haven't hidden that fact at all...I won one, and then put in bids on two auctions that occurred right after, and won both (PWCC I believe). I have 3 1973 sets that I am building you'll find them all there...I happen to have 5 boys that I will leave my collection to. So stuff your conspiracy theories in your overly tight ***. I haven't bid, or looked for another one since.
BTW Maurice show me one single auction where I have sold a card. Go ahead and try - you'll see all my cards in all my sets. I register EVERYTHING, even my 10 1975 mini sets. I am exclusively a buyer. So my supposed shilling only costs me more! I just enjoy the conversation, and express my honest opinion (it was just the first card that came to mind - I could have talked about the 7 1975 Brett mini psa 9s I own) but if my openness is going to be attacked I have better things to do. Second, I also "shilled" the fact that the Brett PSA 9 1975 topps is now over 1.5K and regretted that I lost out on that and don't have any...now I have to pony up.
If the real floor for the Schmidt is 1.3K then I am a buyer again because I think that is cheap relative to prices of other cards. I'll just buy them and store them. Anyone want to sell at that price I am game. >>
Did someone say you were shilling? Why so defensive?
<< <i>Is one person winning many of the auctions on the PSA 9 Mike Schmidt? >>
I believe so. And that person is also hyping the price increase on this message board.
I understand there's still an under bidder at higher levels than in the past but it feels like manipulation. >>
This is just BS - You are accusing me of "hyping" the price of this card and implicitly asserting that I have been manipulating the market? I have never shill-bid or even worried about all that crap since day 1. In fact, I have probably been the victim of shills more times that you have sh*t. The only manipulation on my part is that I have just been buying like crazy since 2006 and decided to try to complete a mega 1970-79 run. You try to keep track of 10 years and tell me if you still have time to consider ways to increase the prices of cards you are still trying to buy. The Schmidt just happened to pop in my mind as I typed some posts before heading off to work. Christ - really? You sir are an forum version of Jack Clark - as Verlander said "moronic" >>
Take it easy, bro! You can bid whatever you like, whenever you like and needn't justify it to anyone. You can resell it for a huge profit or do whatever you like with it. You can post about it and hype it here all you want. Shilling wouldn't be cool though, not that I'm saying you're doing that. >>
Thanks - Yah I over-reacted. I have never shilled or really have the time or energy for that nonsense. Its laughable because I don't sell my cards and lower prices are to my benefit as a buyer. My original post "shills" cards that I don't have and desperately want. I have too much going on with 5 boys, job, and just trying to keep up with my purchases. I honestly don't need to have some guy/s try to impugn my character because I enjoy chatting up and "hyping" baseball cards...been fun but I'm out
I don't collect 70's specifically, but I think we're in a bubble.
-Look at peoples sentiment. There is an "I can't afford to miss this" mentality. You have to ask yourself, are there 50% more people suddenly interested in Rose, or 100 or 200%. These players accumulated fans over many years. It's not like all of a sudden, 150% more people know who Ernie Banks is.
I think there's still an enormous amount of stuff in the woodwork out there for 70's material. I.e. look at the inventory Larry Fritsch has. That's just one dealer. The cards going up don't seem to be the most condition sensitive, just popular players or years.
I also wonder....are incomes going up as fast as these prices?
Snuffy, the five tool player! Drafted right ahead of LHP Big Bird in the '71 draft! LOL!

Always my favorite play....Thankfully you somehow carved out the time to consistently write 400 word responses on a card forum.

And you kept yours to 20 words. Is that the way the cool people respond in a card forum?
