BOOM! Small Poppage -- Messi & Ruth with SCANS

First I want to give a HUGE thank you to bobby8469 for once again running a flawless group sub and letting me piggy these. Over the last year he has helped me move my classic rookie collection from a mix of PSA, SGC, & BVG cards to 100% PSA. Probably over $20,000 of cards and not one single problem or concern. Thank you Bobby!

Now for the good stuff:

2004 Panini Mega Cracks Lionel Messi PSA 10!!! -- This is a hard card to find and VERY hard to find in Mint condition. It is usually found with lots of chipping plus most of these cards that I have bought from Spain have been shipped poorly. This is a population 2 card and the other PSA 10 sold for about $1,500 a few months back with a recent pop 3 PSA 9 going for about $600-700. Mine will not be offered for sale as it will go in my PC. Huge upgrade from my PSA 7.

I finally added a PSA 1920 W 516 Ruth to my collection as I had been chasing this card for a while. I had one in a SGC Authentic slab but after I cracked it out, PSA would not slab it because the card number was cut off. I also had a raw version that did not have the same eye appeal so I sold it. This one has good color. The creases take away and the left edge was cut too close so it got an Authentic slab instead of a 1 but I am happy with it for now. I love that it is his first card as a Yankee and shows him as a pitcher. Hey we all can't afford the Sporting News card!

Thanks for looking!

If there is any card market that could go nuts right now that is not being talked about much it is soccer.

The global popularity will create massive stars and their collectibles will only follow.

If I was to speculate on anything right now it would be high end soccer.

A board member sold a PSA 9 for a strong price not to long ago. Nice score for sure!

    Thanks guys!

I agree with Dpeck100. High end soccer cards are really starting to heat up. I am sure the upcoming World Cup will add more momentum. I am glad that I got my Ronaldo Mega Cracks rookie before they took off and luckily PSA crossed it straight from a BGS 9 slab to a PSA 9 slab!

Soccer cards are definitely picking up steam. This card was one the hottest cards on eBay a few months ago. It was selling for a few hundred dollars raw on eBay. I sold a 9 for over 700. The card was very hard to find in the US but showed up fairly often on Spanish sites for usually less than 50 euro. It was a decent arbitrage opportunity but the window closed quickly as Spanish sellers caught on to the US prices.. There was also a lot of risk with the quality of shipping and the international definition of "mint". I know this is a card hookem has been chasing for a while and I'm glad you scored one. I think it's definitely one of the big modern cards. Ronaldo Mega Cracks went from 50 to over 100 raw and a 9 sold for over 300 a few months ago. Early Pele cards are interesting too but I think those have come down a bit

Congrats. Two real nice cards. Enjoy them.
    STAY HEALTHY!

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.

Cool, so am I. This is one of those cards that non-futbol guys will also collect. Kind of like me collecting the 1979 Gretzky or 1982 Hulk Hogan cards.

I have the 1958 Alifabolaget Pele in a PSA 2 slab that someday will get upgraded. I am also a fan of his Rekord card.
