Memory Lane auction

Holy smoke this auction is gonna kill me. It's loaded with stuff that is extremely hot and personally on my want list. In continuing the spirit of the 1975 Brett RC PSA 9 thread, we are going to see the bar set even higher after this one. Not even counting the vintage which is not my bag, we have a PSA 10 Winfield RC, PSA 10 Dawson RC, PSA 10 Eckersley RC, and all the Huge name Hall of Famers in the 60's and 70's Rookie Cards in PSA 9 like Ryan, Seaver, Carew, Schmidt, Bret, Yount, Molitor, Ozzie, etc. It's not quite the Dmitri Young auction but should be fun to watch

  • The Memory Lane auctions are always terrific.

    Good luck with your consignments.
  • Thanks for the heads-up, however, I cant seem to preview the auction. How did you do it?

While I can understand why you might think I was trying to bring publicity to my consignments as a motivation for this thread, none of those cards are consigned to them by me. I will be chasing a few. Believe it or not, there are topics here and there that are meant to be fun and for discussion only with no financial motives. (Crazy I know)

why would you want to promote an auction you're bidding in? Redoing Brewsters Millions?

Always looking for Topps Salesman Samples, pre '51 unopened packs, E90-2, E91a, N690 Kalamazoo Bats, and T204 Square Frame Ramly's

Is the Memory Lane auction a secret? I would assume a thread would be started at some point on it like just about every other major auction that takes place. I will be bidding on a few items that are under the radar, but still wanted to start a discussion about the prices some of the stuff I mentioned might fetch. Perhaps I pulled a Brewster, but I'm not sweating it.

Because you hope to pay higher prices for the cards you are bidding on.
  • You gotta think that any collectors that have big time cash to spend and are chasing high end cards like this would know if this auction. Factor in that most collectors don't even hang/post here and I don't believe that a post like this would affect prices.

Those high-end baseball HOF rookies were part of the Hatch Graham collection. Bummer that he's selling them. He was always a pleasure to deal with.
"My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. Our childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When we were insolent we were placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds - pretty standard really."

So I did not cost myself hundreds of thousands of dollars by wanting to have an adult conversation about this auction with fellow collectors? Phew! That's a relief! A couple of the guys scared me.

And I should also say that I do NOT KNOW anyone consigning with them on this auction since I know it will be asked. I am not pumping this for a friend either.

Just. thought. different. perspectives. would. be. nice.

    Carry on

Memory Lane seems to have a knack for getting more high-end 1970s cards than you typically see with other auction houses, which tend to focus on earlier cards. I didn't get their catalog yet. Hopefully today since we're right around the corner from them.

[I do not have any cards or other items on consignment with them]

Todd, I am looking forward to the auction. As Andy stated earlier, its a shame that Hatch decided to retire and break-up his Post War HOF Set. I think he was #2 all-time. I would be curious to know why.

He has/had some really nice cards, it will be fun to watch the hammer price on a few of these.

Good Luck on whatever you decide to go after.
  • I too would be interested in hearing why he is selling off such great cards. I never met Hatch personally - but I wrote a message on the 1978 board begging anyone with dupes of the 3 remaining cards I needed to complete the set to sell to me. Hatch immediately replied that he would look for them, said he had two, found 1, and sent it to me for free. I owe the brother a few bids at the least image Good guy and I am completely rooting for him to finally get his 1978 set to 10.00
