My 1st National Experience

Hey everyone,
I finally have some time to sit down and share my experience at the National.
My experience is a little different than most of yours. As part of coming to Chicago, my wife wanted to come along, so my friend and I had to come up with a plan for our wives while we are geeking out on sportscards. We ended up sending them for a spa day, and let me tell you, that went a looong way! The bad part about that, is that we were only able to come to the National for one day, but I made the most of it.
I walked into the National with a plan:
1. I needed to pick up a '52 Bowman Musial to complete my Basic Musial Registry
2. I wanted to pick up some Aaron's for my registry
3. I wanted to pick up some Koufax's to start a registry
4. Have a great time and meet some of the guys from the boards
I was two rows into the National when I found my Musial. It was the grade I wanted and the centering was great. As I was bartering with dealer, I noticed the guy next to me looking at a '55 or was it a '56 Aaron in a PSA 8.5, then I look up and it was MBMiller and ThunderDan. It was great to finally meet Matt being that I have a couple of his Musial's in my current collection.
After purchasing the Musial, we went to the luncheon and I honestly had a great time! Not only was I stoked to get the Cracker Jack Ruth card, but I thoroughly enjoyed the presentation and data that Joe shared.
While walking the whole show, I purchased a raw '60 Koufax and a raw '65 Koufax, two Clemente bobble-heads and a box of 2013 Bowman Platinum (looking for the Puig...that didn't happen).
After finishing the floor, I walked back to a dealer who had a '55 Koufax and was able to talk him down to a price that I was comfortable with. See the scans below. I was extremely happy with the centering.
Overall, my experience was overwhelming and I look forward to attending again in the future. Though, I don't plan on going to Cleveland, I can see myself coming back to Chicago or even attending Baltimore.
Thanks for letting me share.

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
<< <i>Congrats Paul ... enjoy your new cards. Good luck with THE REGISTRY! >>
I did say REGISTRY a lot, but I should clarify that I don't collect because of the Registry Drug, but I do believe that once I decide to collect something, the registry helps to keep me focused.

<< <i>Great Stuff Paul! Update that Musial Set! It was really cool when I was right beside you watching you talk to the dealer about that card as I got to see you start your set and then complete it. Both the Koufax and Musial are great looking cards. >>
Updated! I need to upgrade some of these.
