So close to shaving my head.

This past weekend we raised just under $4,000 for the MACC fund. Sadly my hair is still on top of my head but the MACC just got some more cash is the most important thing. Thank you to all who helped out not just this time but in all of my fund raising activities.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Title says it all. Back in Nov 2002 I was diagnosed with non Hodgkins lymphoma at the young age of 31. We just had our daughter (6 months old) and only married two years. My wife was not looking forward to this as family life now was she? Six months of chemo and dozens of radiation treatments later I was considered in remission in July 2003.

Over these past 10 years I have raised thousands of dollars to help out the Leukemia Lymphoma Society, actually many of you donated to my triathlon back in 2004. We raised the second highest amount nationwide for a single person that year, $14,500. This year I am throwing a huge THANK YOU party for all my friends and family on August 17th and raising money for the Midwest Athletes Against Childhood Cancer - MACC Fund. I am gathering auction and raffle items for the event. Right now my top prize is an autographed Aaron Rodgers Jersey. If any of you would like to donate items for raffle or to just donate to the MACC please contact me or you can donate via the link below.

All donations are tax deductible 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

Thanks you for your donations and prayers in the past and thank you for considering donating to the MACC Fund.

Take care,

Troy

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.

That's amazing! Great to hear another success story. My sister-in-law is 3 years in remission from NHL herself; like you she was a young woman (28) when she was diagnosed.

Congratulation on being ten years cancer free, here's to another ten! It's nice to see your efforts to raise money and awareness for LLS.

  • Awesome, congrats to you FavreFan! My best friend /weight lifting partner just found out he has lymphoma. Also my co-worker was recently been diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic disease... cancer is everywhere. Both of these people in my life are very young. Everyday is a blessing, I know it sounds cliche but its soo true. Best wishes to Favrefan and keep up the good health!!

Great news Troy, and a great cause. Aaron Rodgers also does significant work for the MACC Fund (Go Pack!).

  • Awesome, Troy. I'm 2+ years cancer free myself, though it was testicular cancer discovered at an early stage. Treatment was nothing like what you went through...just a quick surgery followed by a couple months of radiation. I always tell people that if they're going to get cancer, they should get it like I did. image

Also, I didn't follow up my remission by doing a triathlon...that's awesome, very motivational!

Thanks for all of the kind words. Jay, I won't be at the National. It kills me not to go when it is so close but the party I am throwing for the MACC is costing me a pretty penny out of pocket so I had to say no to the national.

The donations online are just short of $1,000 and my in person auction items for the party and raffle tickets are at $1,750. The next two weeks I am working every night heading out to businesses to pick up or solicit for donations. I appreciate the donations so war and the kindest words PM'd to me.

    Thanks everyone.

BTW - Don't forget I will shave my head at the party if we raise $5,000 for the MACC Fund

Right now we are about a third of the way the way there for the head shaving. I am confident we can raise the $5,000 goal. I have a load of items for raffle and auction this Saturday. If you are still able to donate please do.

Also, if you are in the Milwaukee area and want to come by on the the 17th PM and I will get you directions.
