I cant imagine how all the people he looked in the eye last year and assured them that he was innocent and didn't use - how do they feel now? One thing is to, get caught and immediately admit it and pay the piper but to continue to lie such as he did, wow. He's only sorry now that he got caught.
Last year Braun successfully appealed a 50-game suspension for elevated testosterone levels on the grounds that the test sample was handled improperly, holding a press conference to proclaim his innocence and saying, among other things: “My name was dragged through the mud. … Today is for anyone who has been wrongly accused and everyone who stood up for what’s right. It’s about future players and the game of baseball.”
"There were a lot of things that we learned about the collector ... that made us very concerned and very suspicious about what could have actually happened."
edit: I have been a Braun fan in the past. Prior to the PED allegations I had listened to interviews and found him quite likable. Now that it is official, what he did to Dino Laurenzi makes me sick to my stomach.
<< <i>somehow this is a news flash? Who isn't on PEDs in baseball? Dead story if you ask me... >>
I don't think everyone is on PEDs. I doubt there was a time when 100% of the players were doing PEDs. This is for those guys who worked hard to stay in the majors and did it right. Some poor schlep in the minors probably lost his job to Braun due to Braun's unfair advantage.
I think the run totals and HR totals today compared to a decade ago prove that baseball is much cleaner than it was back then.
As a huge Brewers fan I'm very disappointed by this. I actually somewhat believed him the first time when he did his press conference. I should've known better. Well at least football season will be here soon. GO PACKERS!!!

Of the players I actively collect(none are currently active go figure LOL), Lawrence Taylor is the most controversial one. Darryl Strawberry a close second. I refuse to judge Braun based on those 2 players alone. I'm in a glass house. I know there are far worse things in the world.

Heck, sometime's there's no bean there, but we speculate as to the possible future presence of a bean in that spot.

Braun related because of PEDS: Also time to remove Bud Selig. Not cool having the guy who oversaw, built, nurtured and made the "PED ERA" what it is under his watch still in charge, now being the one "cleaning it up". Not a stretch to say that Selig's "leadership" during this much hated era is 1919 Black Sox level corruption at the Commissioners level. He should be removed.
<< <i>I have been a Braun fan in the past. Prior to the PED allegations I had listened to interviews and found him quite likable. Now that it is official, what he did to Dino Laurenzi makes me sick to my stomach. >>
I have always been indifferent in regards to Braun, but completely agree with Geordie regarding Mr Laurenzi. This guy had the bus backed over him regarding the handling of this sample, and lost his job consequently because of Braun being able to afford high priced attorney's that found a loop hole. I hope Mr Laurenzi sues the hell of out Braun for slandering his name. This hole thing makes me sick. Down to the statement Braun released yesterday, its crafted in way to allow escape hatches for future legal actions taken against him. Braun isn't sorry about anything he has done. He might be sorry that he got caught, but he has $113Million guaranteed in the bank beginning next year.
If baseball really wanted to clean itself up, the players themselves should take action by adding language to their contracts that makes the contracts voidable should they test positive for PED's. I know the player's union would never allow that, but unfortunately, it taints all accomplishments throughout baseball, whether they are achieved clean or dirty.
So we have Braun confess, thereby giving more credibility to Bosch and the Biogenesis list...if I'm on the list I'm sh***ing my pants right now and trying to broker a deal for a lighter suspension.
Braun confessing all but guarantees suspensions for the rest on the list and makes him not only the black sheep of baseball to the clean players, but to the dirty players as well.

And just a friendly reminder of what Bud said three years ago:
<< <i>“The use of steroids and amphetamines amongst today’s players has greatly subsided and is virtually nonexistent, as our testing results have shown,” Selig said in a statement. “The so-called steroid era — a reference that is resented by the many players who played in that era and never touched the substances — is clearly a thing of the past, and Mark’s admission today is another step in the right direction.” >>

Yea, he'll become a much more mediocre baseball player.
As for the "news" itself, not surprising. I'm sure Ryan will be glad to put it in the rear-view mirror and get on with his life.
Turning on the radio during my lunch break and having to listen to (of all people) Jim Rome try to make fun of him (or anyone) almost makes me feel sorry for Ryan. Sorry. I REALLY hate Jim Rome.

Tough night for my kids. Embarrassing for me as a Brewer fan.
I would like to see one time a pro athlete has been accused of something and it wasn't true.
Anyone who believed him after a positive sample is very gullible.
