So, umm, look what I found in my Mom's basement [UPDATE: MINT 9 (W/scan)]

My step dad passed away a few years ago and as I was going through my stuff I found a box of Cubs scorecards. I happened to open one up and found this nice little find...

Great piece! You better protect that crease, it will only deteriorate over time.

Thanks all, and don't worry about the crease deteriorating, I'm bringing it to the National to get slabbed. Thankfully it wasn't folded when I found it, just wish I coulda had a chance to hear the story when he met him. Me thinks he forgot he even had it. Baseball was something that we really bonded on before he passed. Just stoked I found it and can cherish it!

Thanks all...I will protect the crease. It didn't use to be there. No matter, as I will never sell it.

I think he was referring to the OP..

Side note: Also found a 51 score card signed by this guy

The scorecard itself was filled out, poorly, by a child, quite possibly my step dad. Is it worth getting it authenticated or do I just put it in a sleeve?

That's a nice vintage Musial signature. Unless you like throwing money away, I would not bother with sending it in. It's good, but Musial is so common you won't ever get your authentication money out of it if you ever decide to sell.

I suggest you toss your application to work for PSA/DNA!

LMAO....The advertisement is addressed to me. I was 13 or so at the time. The advertisement is as real as you can get. Unless he was a doppleganger. I guess that is a possibility. Someone who looked like him, acted like him....but was totally not him.

I just put it up because I wanted people to see the changes in signature over time. The most obvious in the two being the letter "B" in the best wishes. The two pieces are identical in what he signed, the only difference being the name of the receiver.

Interesting to see the Mantle advertisement, but there's just something sad about seeing who he is sponsoring and then thinking about his cause of death. Wish Mick had just a few less Natty's throughout his life...

I am in total agreement with you. It is a little sad that he is promoting what eventually killed him. Part of the reason I am a teatotaller.

I love that Mantle signature (doesn't hurt at all that my name's also Steve image ).

I've got to say though, every time I look at it, I think he signed it "Mickers Mantle", because of the short tail on the y image

Subbed it at the National. My buddy works for Mears and was able to pick it up for me since I was only able to attend Thursday. Just picked it up from him. Stoked that I spent the extra money on the grading, was originally just going to have it be slabbed authentic.

Agreed it could be one of the PSA adds on why to have it graded.
