I'd like to punch this seller

Well apparently he's got a crap load of these. Printing them out and I've seen a couple already for sale by others as the REAL deal.
His Gretzkys all have the yellow dot on the left shoulder which he told me over email and the back is slightly darker.
These are very good fakes except the edges are all smooth. Scammers will just rub the edges with their fingernails to make 'em look crummy.

Bryan ... Looks like you may have convinced him to take them down:

This listing (130944198641) has been removed, or this item is not available.
    STAY HEALTHY!

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
  • That guy keeps coming back. I've reported him before. Sometimes it's removed and sometimes nothing

This is what he was selling. I went to his feedback and pulled it.

There's plenty more where that came from:

Those look like the crappy small white dot on shoulder with white backs version.
Those have been out for a few years now.

The guy I'm talking about has a better version.

Speaking of smooth cut Gretzky rookies, what do you guys think of this one in the current Greg Bussineau auction: Link It was slabbed by Beckett as a 9, but the auction description states that the card is probably sheet cut. Is it authentic or fake?

    Absolutely authentic but sheet cut.
Bold colors, dark tan back, and the double blue lines underneath the skates on back were also the first print run.

Not a hockey guy but that is a stunner and, imo, a very solid investment. In generations to come, calling a card "sheet cut" is not going to sour hardcore collectors as much as it does today.

I cant believe all the other reprints he makes. Almost everyone of these reprints he is selling I could be a screwed buyer for on eBay or where ever people sell them. Sad, really has me questioning whether I want to even try to find originals when they can be faked like this. They look decent to my untrained eye, you have to be really "educated" on some of these cards to spot the reprint. They aren't as bad as they were when I was a kid and pointing them out to friends at card shows in the mall. image

Feel free to report to ebay at anytime you see a Gretzky RC raw on ebay as it is against their policy to do so

(click on the Trading Card triangle to expand it) as you will see all Gretzky's must be graded by a reputable grading company.ebay trading card policies
