  • That write up on the back of the Harper is as corny as the write ups on cards from 40 years ago.

Interesting to see that Harper in a PSA slab.

Everything I read suggests BGS owns the shiny market.

Are other 1/1's finding their way into a PSA slab?

I was just thinking the same thing. The sale price differential may be the deciding factor shifting the market share for modern grading towards PSA.

Beautiful Harper, and that's coming from someone who collects primarily Pre-War. Will your client be keeping or selling the card?

What's keeping the Jordan from a 10? Nice card (both of them).

    Thanks,

there is a very thin and very short yellow line in the red at the top of the card to the left of the basketball, you can barely see it in the scan.

Congrats on the pops. Sweet superfractor. If it was a Kershaw SF, I'd try to sell a kidney so I could bid - LOL.

I think you started the Harper too low.

That was my first thought. Even a start at $0.99 with a reserve would have been much better.

I agree Vlad...auction it and let the piranha fight for it.

If I had the dough, I would make a good offer and put it up for auction myself.

    You're joking right?

The centering on the Jordan is barely meeting the standards for a 9.

I disagree. If you expand the image and measure the borders, the centering on this card is 50/50 top to bottom and 46/54 left to right. This is within the definition of a PSA 10, 55/45 or better. Technically, a card could be as far off-center as 60/40 if perfect in every other way as a 5% leeway is automatically granted. Doesn't apply here as the OP mentioned they believe the reason for it not getting a 10 is a yellowish mark on the card. I believe that if the card was free of flaws, centering would not have prevented it from being graded a 10.

Part of the card is hidden under the left rail, making the centering look worse than it is.

  • 60-40 is almost never going to get you a 10 grade. And it shouldn't.

I agree, it should be difficult to grade a 10 on a 60/40 card. I think a 60/40 is noticeably off-centered to the eye most of the time. However, that point is getting off the topic I wanted to debate with you.

<< <i>The centering on the Jordan is barely meeting the standards for a 9. >>

Putting it in the context of your comment - this card definitely meets the centering standards of a 9. In fact, it exceeds the top end of centering for a 9 by 6%, enough to place it above the 55/45 standard for a 10.

I'm not trying to start an argument or anything, I simply didn't think what you said was accurate and here is why:

    Left Border = 18px, Right Border = 21px

    Left/Right Centering
    18 + 21= 39
    (21/39)*100 = 53.84
    (18/39)*100 = 46.15
    =54/46

  • The picture was misleading because part of the card was covered by the holder on the left side
making the centering at a glance look off.

That being said -- there is no way the card could be a 10.

If you can tell at a quick glance that the l/r centering is considerably ess than
    perfect then it's not a 10.

I for one feel that PSA hands out way too many 10 grades, and often with
    questionable centering.
