Matt ... thanks for sharing. That was a hard article for me to read. As a dad whose youngest daughter was three years old when she was diagnosed with Cancer and having to watch her go thru nine hundred days in a row of Chemo, I have some idea of what his parents are going thru. But I am one of the lucky ones, as she is now a healthy and beautiful 14 year old girl. I had tears in my eyes when I read this quote from his father: "When we had to tell Gavin there were no more options, he's going to die, that was hard." MAN, I can't even imagine having to say that to my daughter.

Edited to add: What an awesome thing for Harper to have done. As others have said, he's only a kid himself.

That is brutal.. so sad, choked up reading that. I hope his family finds the strength they need.
+ 1 for Bryce, more then the money and fame you make as a pro.. that has to be the best part of your life being
able to make someones life better by just spending some time.

Thanks for sharing that article Matt. I'm glad Gavin had a great day meeting Harper and throwing out that first pitch to take his mind off things if even for a moment. As Bob said, I hope Gavin and his family find the strength they need.

I bet if you ask Bryce Harper, he will tell you he got more out of meeting Gavin than the other way around. Helps put things in perspective.

The young man in this story lost his battle last night, may he rest in peace.
I was shocked to hear he past so quickly since he threw out that pitch.

I am just sick at the thought of what his family is going through.

God bless us all with children that we never go through this.
and if you do have a sick child may they make a miraculous recovery.

Awful news. Makes me sick to think if one of my children got really sick. May he rest in peace...
