Jose canseco error card

Hey everyone I'm new to these forums and just got back into collecting about a year ago. I collected as a kid and as I got older found new ways to spend my money. However about a year ago I found boxes of cards sitting by the trash room of my condo. Naturally I was taken back to my youth and dug out all my old cards from my parents house and have been catalogingththem on Beckett when I had spare time. Today as I was going through some of them I came across a 1990 KmartjJose canseco card but the back of the card is tony gwynn. I tried to find some mention of it on line but couldn't find anything. Is this a rare card or is it a common error? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

"Wrong backs" are typically not recognized as errors.

Wrong backs are neat cards to own but typically don't generate any $$$

Perhaps for modern but I've seen many vintage and pre-war wrong backs sell for multiples of a correct back version.
  • Ya thats kinda what I figured I didnt really have high hopes but it was worth asking people who might know more than I do. Thanks

    send it to Foo

  • As I said I'm kinda new to this and don't know what for is.
  • Damn auto correct I ment foo not for.
  • Some wrong backs are more common than others (1987-1989 Topps for example). I have not heard of too many examples of wrong backs in the grocery/specialty sets. 1982 K-Mart is pretty common but regardless of value, I don't think what you have is common at all, probably pretty rare.

keep in mind that rare doesn't always equate to value however

  • I understand the value of something is only what someone is willing to pay. I'm not looking to retire off this card just some info. In one off the previous posts ironmanfan you said to send it to FOO. What is FOO?
  • Hello lol
  • Got it lol

Of course, which is why I prefaced it with "regardless of value..."

For the record, I don't think this card would fetch too much at auction (not part of a highly collected set, not a 'documented' error, no 'will clark level' following, etc). My guess: $3 low to $20 high, but sometimes these things surprise you, hard to tell, really.
