Wonder what the next round of quarters will be after the NP series?

I know it is a bit soon but a little speculation is fun..

I'm still hoping for the Commemorative County Pennies program to move forward:

IF Congress or the Mint doesn't cancel THAT program before it finishes, too! image Although I guess quarters are in just a BIT higher demand than Prez dollars!

I'd like to see on EACH denomination the introduction of a "coin types thru the years" program, where each year in the series, the front & back is an exact replica of each major type of that coin/denomination minted since 1776, where only the year would be modern (and maybe "In God We Trust" added).

I think that would make for a really cool set of historical series!

PLUS an opportunity for some great fakes!imageimage

I wish they would commission artists to design the coins, instead of PC committees etc......American coinage has, for the most part, been totally devoid of art for a long time... Cheers, RickO

Hence my desire for a retro-look at all the beautiful designs that have graced those coins from the early days (and maybe stop with the very early 20th century).

Current Obverse with the 1976 Drummer reverse. A classic.

I hope they go back to something classic. I have just about lost all interest in modern coins as a result. No way to keep up!

They should do a presidential "conquests" series - but I have a feeling they would be stuck on Kennedy and Clinton for quite awhile.

The U.S. Mint has designed a folder for collecting and displaying the county pennies. The cardboard murals, measuring 8 feet by 35 feet, will be available at most Walgreens stores, or directly from the Mint by mail for $4.95 plus $179 for postage and handling.

Native animals would be cool, and I agree, artist-designed, no committees.
  • I really hope that the treasury goes back to an artist-basd coinage. There needs to be some change. pun intended.

I will not lose sleep wondering about this.
    When in doubt, don't.

Most likely something that will be politically correct. Can't take a chance that someone will complain and have the complaints "get legs".

I would also support the idea of letting artists take a stab at creating new coin designs. A breath of fresh air would be invigorating.
  • I would greatly prefer them going back to the 32-98 eagle.

I wish they would decide on a design other than one with Washington on the obverse and stick with it for the next 25 years, and then change it again.

  • I hope they don't go back to the 1998 design. I'd like to see that as a closed series.

How about a symbolic representation of Liberty on the obverse and an eagle on the reverse?

Or maybe a representation of the IRS on the obverse and a domestic FBI surveillance drone on the reverse.

    Either way.

Not practical. At the rate the federal government is expanding and growing the mint could never keep up.

Let's do like the Canadians & issue a colorized set of quarters with each major league baseball, hockey, football, & basketball team's logo on them! That series would go on FOREVER!!

And, just like we can have 2 coins with the same President on it (Cleveland), we can have a new coin issued for a team each time it moves!!image
