Hulk Hogan Rookie card.

Hey there, My fiancee has a Hulk Hogan 1985 Rookie card and I was curious how much that card is worth?

Topps raw is about five dollars on eBay
  • oh wow, I thought they would of been a little more then that...

There are quite a few of those cards floating around.

Wrestling was hot in 1985 and Topps was willing to make anything.

They are great for nostalgia but there are too many in nice condition for the price to be very strong.

If your card doesn't have very strong centering it might sell for a buck on EBAY in a poorly listed auction.

  • Thanks for the information. Are there any cards from that year that are worth anything?
  • Dpeck100Dpeck100 Posts: 10,912 ✭✭✭✭✭
If they are Gem Mint in some cases they can be.

It really depends on your definition of value though. Relative to $5 yes but relative to more rare wrestling sets no.

This is the most common set of wrestling cards that you see on EBAY. 1987 Topps would be second.
  • okay. He has a huge folder of wrestling cards and Baseball cards, basketball and hockey and we were wondering if anything there was worth any money,
  • Dpeck100Dpeck100 Posts: 10,912 ✭✭✭✭✭
The chances are slim that you have much but you can never say never.

  • Well thanks for the Info. Saved me a bunch of time.
  • Now if the basketball happen to be from 1985 and 1986, you might have something.

I decided to sign up on the Hulk Hogan registry and added the 1981 Popy to his player registry and then added the 1982 BBM card to it as well. I thought people should know there are some other options outside of the Topps and if they do not want to pay huge money for the Wrestling All Star card.

It looks like there isn't anyone too close to completing the Hulk Hogan master set anytime soon. Lots of new stuff unfortunately.

So many items there is no point to doing it....he has so many cards in the 1985 set alone. The individual cards from that set are okay but I am still unsure if I will ever get around to them. I plan to add the three other BBM cards to the registry and the 1982 Gong when I get them graded. I think having his earliest cards are worth having and letting others know they exist. They are a lot more rare than the other cards on the checklist.

Is there a way to do a player registry and just select certain cards? With all of his modern TNA cards I can't even begin to imagine someone trying to complete the set.

Would a PSA Basic Set work in this case?

Well there is the 1981 paper card from the USA and there is the Popy but I am the proud owner of the first Hogan BBM Sha and I was fortunate enough to get this bad boy in a PSA mint 9 grade!

If you mean bury this information in a thread like this I agree. When introducing the first graded examples they deserve a thread of their own that can be expanded on as time goes on.

You also want to make it easier for people to search for something because information drives prices and the more information you can make available the better your chances of having something appreciate are.

I will work on it when i have the time to get the other 20 cards scanned......putting away my bulk order at the moment. These are tough to get in high grade as i received some lower grades that were the best of two sets that I was able to acquire. I'm obviously excited that a few key cards from the set that I was able to get high grades on.

No No. You gotta take a stand, it don't help to hide is a verse in the entrance song of Hulk Hogan.

It was great to see him at Wrestlemania. Didn’t watch much and lost interest after Brock lost.

Wow. Very cool. I never saw those cards before. Love to see early hogan cards from 81-85. It seems like new ones from japan are always popping up. Has the 1981 card where he is wearing the colorful cape been slabbed yet?
The cosmo set was interesting too. Sumo discovered a bunch of packs. I figured they were going to be rather common and sold the hogan right after I got it. Turned out they were pretty uncommon.

Scans of most of my Misc rookies can be found <a target=new class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://forums.collectors.com/m...y&keyword1=Non%20major">here

I had no luck getting this set slabbed. I'm sure if others try PSA will eventually give in.

There is another one with Japanese letters that should have no problem getting through PSA. I have a decent one and have one on ebay too. Frankly, I am surprised that no one has jumped on it. I'd like to get all the 1981 to 1983 Hulk Hogans that I can. There is a lot of product on Hogan but cards from that era should all be winners.

These 1981 Marusho cards are tough to find an this is one of Hogan’s first cards. One of my goals is to update my Guide to 1970s and 1980s Japanese Mini Cards. It has been years since I’ve touched it, but it is due for a refresh with updated information. I can probably get all this information captured and send a copy to PSA to convince them.

The Cosmos Set is awesome. The circular cards pop up on occasion, but the packs are almost non existent anymore.
