I would definitely avoid it, along with other major holidays. I think it's actually a good day as a buyer because there will be less people bidding on things.
I think it's a decent idea for auctions to overlap a holiday, but not end on it. People just aren't around. I think if an auction started on June 3rd, and ended Monday, June 10th, I think it might do okay for all of those people with nothing to do but scan auctions over the holidays. I don't know about ending it on that Sunday, however. I know for myself, I'm flying back home on Sunday, so I won't get home until late, and probably won't have a chance to check ebay that evening. Of course, you can always snipe, but not every ebayer knows how to do that.
I think it's a bad idea. The number of people who won't be paying attention to auctions on the 4th probably substantially outweighs those who think they will be able to get bargains and paying closer attention.
