What to do???

Ok, so I received $75k yesterday in cash and I am sitting here wondering what to do. Everyone seems to fleeing stocks because of what Ben hinted at what was going to happen in the future. PM's are dropping because of what Ben hinted at what was going to happen in the future.

So where is the money going? What to do????

I wish I had your problem... $75k in cash.... holy smokes.

It might be time to just hold on for a bit to see where the week goes.

Good luck with your "problem"... lol

I would buy goats and some seed/feed.

I could turn that 75K into at least 100-125K in about 2 years.

Park it....cash will always be King. Sometimes it's best to do nothing and this may be the time.

Safest bet is stay in cash until the smoke clears.
After that....will have to see what happened.
Maybe housing prices will go down again now that interest rates are climbing.
Thus rental units could be a good purchase.
I am sure some will say precious metals(at least I hope so).
For now....don't let the money burn a hole in your pocket.
    Hold cash.

That amount of cash is enough to give you opportunities elsewhere, as others have mentioned. Finger off the trigger and wait to see what shows up. If it were a smaller amount (say <$10k) and you have a slant towards metals, I'd say start cautiously buying.

Nice bank-owned doublewide mobile homes (and some small houses) on 5 acres of land around here are selling for $25K. They are renting for $500-600/month. That's $6000-7200/yr gross. Taxes are cheap on these. I would buy 2 units and park the rest of the cash for light maintainance.

What other investment vehicle can earn you $1000-$1200 month less taxes for a $50K investment for years to come?

apply it to your credit card balance.

I came to that conclusion and took that very action yesterday and zeroed out about $13K of credit card debt.

I'd make friends with a realtor. Then I'd offer him a nice fee to find you a sweet deal on an apartment in a nice neighborhood. Use that $75,000 to make a down payment on a mortgage on that apartment, and then rent it out. Use the rent to pay for the taxes, fees, and mortgage payment. Once all that stuff's taken care of, you've got yourself an income-generating investment. Why do it today? Interest rates are low and so are housing prices- for now, anyway.

Edited to add: cash is king, yes, and the dollar rose today. However, the rise in dollar value isn't quite enough to offset inflation, and the growing gas prices.

No debt but I think I will doo what most of have said and sit on it until the smoke clears.

Close proximity to Statesboro, Ga. Home of Georgia Southern University, 20000+ students and growing. Also home to Walmart's southeast distribution center, Great Dane trailers, Viracon Glass, a Briggs and Stratton plant, a lots of other draws to the area. About 35 minutes to Savannah and Pooler, Ga, the fastest growing city in Ga. Yet this is still "rural" country.

You won't have to look hard. Opportunities always seek money, not visa versa.

Sit tight and don't let it burn a hole in your pocket.

Go to a coin show. Put the $ 75,000 in a locked case with a sign that says.."BUYING"
    Have a nice day

I'm sitting on some as well...not that much. I'm waiting to see what the market does and try to catch the bottom. When everyone realizes Bernanke didn't actually say anything, we should get a nice pop. Tomorrow is quad witching, so I wasn't going to move today.

I don't know what the rest of your asset allocation looks like, what is this money for in the future? Need it in the next few years then I would stay in cash, if not I'd wait for some price declines and buy some stock.
