I would have used the numismatic exception and amassed a collection of US gold coins during the 1930's.

It would have been easy enough to amass thousands in face that way just in eagles and double eagles.

Karl Stecher comes to mind as one individual who did assemble such a collection.

I gave all my bullion to Barndog in order to compensate him and his family for their loss. Instead, we're living now on U.S. Treasury bonds.
