Provident and Goldmart shipping/in-stock issues.

morgansforevermorgansforever Posts: 8,461 ✭✭✭✭✭
Anyone here have issues with either of the two? A friend of mine bought some AGE's a month ago from GM, paid with a CC and just received them. He claims that the site showed in-stock when ordered, why such a long wait? Also have heard through social media that Provident is no better. APMEX prices are higher and you pay more shipping, but I received my items in 10 days using a personal check. GM and Provident have very attractive pricing but I'm sorta hesitant. Where do you buy bullion? Any stories? Recommendations?
Scott

EDIT: JM Bullion has attractive pricing and $9.95 shipping. Anyone do business with them?

All my orders with Provident and Goldmart were delivered in 3-4 weeks, paid by check, and approx 2 weeks if paid by cc.
In this last period, catching with orders has been tough for every dealer. Scottsdale for example hasn't shipped my order placed 3 weeks ago, their brand-named bars.
SilverTowne seems to be late as well, while one month ago their were shipping in 2 days.

Apmex is the most reliable. They have a huge inventory and their service is great. Though, if you play the bullion game, the difference compared to the other players is too much, imo.

Never heard of JM Bullion. Their website is nice and well done and prices are not bad either.

Agree with what he said and I've used all but one of the above mentioned dealers .... APMEX is the most reliable and the quickest to ship, but their prices are somewhat higher. Have never dealt with JM Bullion.

APMEX is quicker to ship than Provident or Goldmart but they are more expensive. You have to decide if you want to be patient and save some money or if you want quicker delivery. Since I just put my silver in storage, I would rather save some money.

I made my first and last order with Goldmart back in mid-April. 50x 10 oz bars and a 1 oz platinum coin. Still no tracking info. They keep giving me the runaround and excuses, despite the fact that both items I ordered were listed as "in stock" when I ordered. Their staff is courteous and tries to be helpful, but the bottom line for me is that they've had my money for a month and a half and I am still sitting here with nothing.

Wow! That's bad. Perhaps it's time to get the postal inspectors involved. I assume you used the mail to send them payment.

I always deal with Provident and have no problems.
    Current 1/2 oz AGE$744.03.
Will never deal with Apmex after the ATB scam they pulled on customers.

I sent them a bank wire. Which they confirmed as received on April 26th. If I don't get a tracking number next week I may have to go to the BBB.

Funny you should mention "in-stock" in the title. For both these companies, I believe their definition of in-stock includes if they have a "confirmed" order from their supplier. Thus, they don't actually have the item in-hand when they sell it to you as in-stock.

That alone would make me crazy. What if their supplier operates the same way? And their supplier's supplier as well?

Sooner or later, someone is going to declare "force majeure".

I've had slow shipping from them all except JMB (never tried). All got to me eventually. Any orders placed in the April slam are subject to delays, but with the bank wire order like the pokermanduder I'd be getting real twitchy too.

Scottsdale shipped today. Order places on 5/15 but the website clearly states 3-4 weeks for shipping.

What is the ATB scam? I bought some Perth gold from them and it went smooth.

In their defense, I did tell them to ship May 17th. Still, 47 days of having my money and 25 days more than they told me.

Just made a purchase with JM Bullion with a personal check. They treat a Postal MO the same as a personal check. I called them and asked why they hold Postal MO's, they've had fake Postal MO's, that would have fooled anyone. The customer service rep told me they generally ship 1 or 2 days after confirmation of funds, we'll see. Sucks for me, as I know my check is good without a doubt.

Holding a check for funds to clear seems normal to me as policies go. But when I ordered from Westminster Mint they didn't wait. Even though they have the same policy. Shipped the morning after my check arrived.
