NICE!! New pop 1 PSA 10, just popped today

Davey Lopes now has a POP 1 - PSA 10 O-Pee-Chee rookie image

GEM MINT 10 1973 O-PEE-CHEE 609 ROOKIE 2nd BASEMEN L.BLANKS/P.GARCIA/D.LOPES

Topps is a POP 2 and last 1 sold 5/20/12 for $2037!

I dont expect the OPC to bring anywhere near that because of how many set registry people there are looking for the Topps, but the
OPC should bring in a good chunck of change!

Congrats! Getting a PSA 10 on anything OPC 1970s is a feat in itself. That's a solid card. Please post the scan when received.
Always buying 1971 OPC Baseball packs.

I will post a scan. Hope to have it Thursday. Package was mailed out today.

1973's are so difficult because the rough cut stands out so much with these on the back side against the black border.
I also sent in probably 40 or so 1977's and got mostly 8's. Was looking for 9's.
Best 9 I got was a Reggie Jackson. 77's frustrate me!!!

Ive always wondered how PSA can grade OPC so high with the fuzzy edges....I have a OPC Gretzky PSA 9 that I was just hoping it would get a 8....but thats very cool to get that a PSA 10...sorry for my ramble image

    My thoughts exactly!

While I am quite happy for you. What happens if another one of these gets a 10 with little or no rough cut.

A perfect argument for the (non existent) 9.5 grade!

Great looking card. As an OPC hockey collector I love the rough cut.

Rough cut is natural for this issue and so PSA doesn't downgrade for it (and rightfully so, imo). Many OPC cards with perfect smooth cut are sheet cut.

I'm not an OPC fan but enjoy your passion on them. Nice job on the grades lately.

Congrats on the 10 Lopes! I wonder how it will do as compared with the 10 D.Evans that is presently listed by another seller? Both are pop 1 and both have seven 9's, so it seems like a fair comparison.

Tom ... CONGRATS! This may give people a better look at the card:

For those looking for the sharp edges on OPC cards from the 70's, good luck. If you do find them, odds are they are sheet cut and reason why you see
so many OPC high grade cards in BVG holders. Even that 1971 Ryan PSA 10 listed on Ebay right now just doesnt look right.

Rough cut OPC cards can be very difficult to grade. On another day, maybe this grades a 9 as is the case with any other card.

In the end, OPC will always be known for the rough cut

I think Topps edges from the 70's are too smooth, so there. Great work Tom.

Gorgeous card Tom. As an OPC fan myself, the rough cut is a work of art. There is a lot of information out there about the reasons for the rough cut and it is fascinating. When is your next trip to the Great White North?
