<< <i>Alan Trammell and Lou Whitaker's American League record 1,918 career games played as teammates. >>
Jeter, Rivera and Posada. Three teammates that played together for 17 seasons(consecutive). >>
Two of those guys are first ballot HOFers.....in contrast to the tread title... >>
I think he was trying to say that Trammell & Whitaker don't hold the record not that Jeter, River & Posada are not HOF-caliber. As it is, Trammell & Whitaker *DO* hold the record. Posada & Rivera both played less than 1918 games total let alone 1918 with Jeter. >>
Rivera wouldn't likely be part of the record as he doesn't play every day. I honestly don't know if Jeter + Posada have passed Tram and Whitaker (19 seasons together) in actual games played together. As of July 14, 2011, Jeter and Posada had played in 1,660 games as teammates (setting the Yankee team record).
1. Consecutive games with two or more hits: 15 - Count Campau, St. Louis Browns - July 5 through July 23, 1890. 2. Consecutive games with a walk: 22 - Roy Cullenbine, Detroit Tigers - July 2 through July 22, 1947 3. Consecutive plate appearances reaching base (unofficial) (includes all possible ways of reaching base: base hit, walk, hit-by-pitch, error, fielder's choice, dropped third strike, catcher's interference and fielder's obstruction): 17 - Earl Averill, Jr., Los Angeles Angels - June 3 through June 10 (first game), 1962 (7 hits, 8 walks, 1 error, 1 fielder's choice) *Dad's in HOF, but not him 4. Consecutive innings pitched without allowing a home run (modern era): 269.1 - Greg Minton, San Francisco Giants - June 1, 1979 through May 1, 1982
<< <i>Will anyone ever again pull a Cesar Tovar and play 8 positions in a single game? Or did Oquendo do it as well? Will we ever see all nine? >>
Campy Campaneris did it as well, and all three of these guys played all NINE positions, not 8.
Nice thread but after having to read about both Billy F^&kn Hatcher and Kirk F^&kn Gibson (funny they have the same middle name!) in the same thread, I'm outta here...

Jorge retired after the 2011 season with 1829 games played. So, no, they did not pass Tram & Whitaker.
Another vote for Hershiser. No brainer. Let's see anyone do THAT again.

There are certainly some interesting stats out there. Shawn Green who hit 4 home runs in a single game, also pulled together the most TB's in a single game with 19, and in that same game has the most extra base hits with 5. Thats a good day.

Thank you Wikipedia!
In 1985 Tom Herr only hit 8 Homers but had 110 RBI's
<< <i>Harvey Haddix - 12 perfect innings. That and the Hershiser shutout innings streak are both insane. >>
Didn't mark beurhle have 14 or so consecutive perfect innings a few years back? 9 one day, then went into the 5th inning his next start

Tom Cheney will be surprised to hear that he no longer holds the record.
Tom Cheney doesn't hear much of anything anymore since he started his eternal dirt nap many years ago.

+1 and would give any racehorse a run for his money.
