The lower inside circle of the 8 in the date has a diagonal and something to the right of the 8.

Still nothing to suggest an RPD. Can you put an arrow on it?

    Tony,

I see the diagonal shape in the lower loop just fine,
But, do you see the semi-circular loop connecting the
two loops of the "8" ?

You very well may have an RPD.

If anything it might be some remnant of a machine doubled strike. Not sure what I see there, but interesting!!

    I agree. There's something behind the 8.

You're not nuts. Here's what I see. Arrows point to edges of what I think you see as the secondary 8. Green lines mark the distance from the bottom inside of the top loop to the bottom inside of the lower loop. Both lines are approximately 186 pixels. Magenta lines measure from 10:00ish on the outside of the lower loop to 4:00ish on the inside of the lower loop. Both lines are approximately 135 pixels. 1918/8 is definitely plausible, but a higher grade coin would need to be found to corroborate it.

One thing against it being a DDO, however, is that the braid ribbon seems really thin at the top of the picture, and it should be doubled along with the date, since they're right next to each other on the hub.

Interesting. You should PM Koynekwest to get his take.
