35 on a bad day for the dollar- I would give it a 40, but the experts will likely say 35

the 1/2 is not going to do well- F12 is my first thought

How's the luster on the top coin? It has the wear of a near-50 and at the very least a 45.

VF??? You can hardly tell that the Kalakaua has a beard and some of the lettering is nearly obliterated.

NGC must be split grading this as the reverse is far better.

No luster but looks better than some of the 45's I have..

The second 50C Hapalua has a lot more character, one of my favorites.
I always wonder what that 50C coin was spent on in the late 1800's, they had a short but interesting life..

Hey now that $1 could have been graded AU53 or higher if it was in white plastic too!

Ha! I never trust photos less than +/- a grade, not even my own.
I swear I can take 5 photos of the same coin and it looks like 5 different coins sometimes.

If I can get a near reasonable facsimile to the coin in hand I'm a happy camper.

Anyway it's all good, and a much needed education we all should have in this electronic age.

Part of the problem with the half is the overall different appearance between the obverse and reverse- the obverse may have problems that need to be seen in hand to properly access.

I think 40 looks right for the dollar
