BBCE offering new shrink wrap

BBCE offering new shrink wrap with their logo in it. I think it looks fantastic and shows that Steve is taking as many steps as he can (within reason) to deter fraud. I personally really like it. Thanks Steve, Rick and BBCE!

WTB: PSA 1 - PSA 3 Centered, High Eye Appeal 1950's Mantle
I know PSA uses a hologram. I think BBCE would be much better served if they had a hologram as well. I've
heard holograms are very hard to fake, if not impossible.
Nice effort by BBCE, but not foolproof unless there is a hologram.
PSA uses holograms, as does Gretzky and Bobby Orr when you send something to their company.

No hologram = limited security.
The theifs will be on this right away.
I think people will spend an extra $25.00 for a hologram when buying boxes anywhere from $100.00 to $6,000.00

It is GREAT BBCE is making their 'brand' packaging safer from counterfeiters going forward. This seems like a major improvement. However, IMO, at this point the cat is out of the bag. All a fraudster needs to do is simply duplicate the label and sell it as a Pre June 2013 Box. As the new wrapper becomes more prevalent will people start to scrutinize the 'old' style wrapping as being possibly fake or less reliable as real? What are the LONG term ramifications regarding the old style packaging? Will people now be sending back their boxes to BBCE for re-wrapping?

<< <i>My eyes hurt every time I read that blog. Can they not get a different color background? I can't even read the blue on blue links on the left.

Lmao!
<< <i>I think its awesome and a step in the right direction. Maybe its not full proof, but neither was the other version. But I dont see enough BBCE stuff floating around on eBay to presume its a point for fakers to copy. >>
For example, buy an empty 1973 Schmidt Series Wax Box. Fill it with proverbial rocks. Make the fake sticker. Put some clear wrapping on. WhaLah! A pre June 2013 BBCE box. If you buy it, you are likely not to open the BBCE seal. If you do open it and find the rocks the seller throws their hands up in the air and says what do you want from me. It was a sealed BBCE box!. With the prices these boxes are realizing lately, you don't think that will or has started to happen already? It is only a matter of time.
In any event, clearly a GREAT move by BBCE to make it harder going forward to counterfeit their 'brand' and reputation!
<< <i>(some of mine go way back to when Steve used a business card under the shrinkwrap instead of the sticker) >>
Wow, I was unaware of that. Even easier for an evil doer to counterfeit a pre June 2013 BBCE box. If I owned a box like that I might consider contacting Steve to get it re-wrapped!
Question for you. In 5 years, what would you think would be worth more. Selling A BBCE sealed box with a legacy business card. Or popping the seal, having all the packs slabbed and selling them all with the box? Or having the box re-wrapped now in the June 2013 wrapping and selling it? Or waiting and having it wrapped in the latest wrapping BBCE might come up with at the time?

Graded packs are always going to carry a premium and if you crack the seal you may be pleasantly surprised with a couple of star packs, too. As for the older shrinkwrapped boxes vs the newer ones, I don't foresee any real premium with one over the other. Heck, even raw boxes on ebay are realizing record prices. The BBCE shrinkwrap is just another layer of reassurance for the buyer. But I suppose gold eagles are always safer, though even those are being faked in China these days, too.

<< <i>In all honesty, most people don't care if its sealed by BBCE or even know about BBCE for all that matter. I think WE are the ones making his prices increase and are in line waiting for there newest vintage products to come out. I think were making a huge deal about something that isn't that big in the world of sports cards. Is the sealed card world going to shut down because it doesn't have a BBCE shrinkwrap or a card with Steves name on it? I'm betting not. Just take it for whats its worth I guess. Nice on BBCE's part, Yes. A huge deal? ...ehhh not really. Just makes them look more professional. >>
When you buy a sealed box directly from Steve you get that really nice comfort factor. Now with the new wrapping you get even more protection. However, when purchasing a box off ebay that is not sealed, you can and most likely do examine the individual packs closely before tucking it away in the vault. When you buy an "after market", sealed "BBCE" branded box, you are less likely to pop the seal. If an evil doer wanted to make some spare change by counterfeiting a business card, you wouldn't know what hit you. Why bother faking a pack when you can fake a box and hide behind a business card and a seal. Its just a matter of time before the pack fakers realize this and switch gears.
I feel more people care that its sealed by BBCE then you think. Especially when they go to sell and make the fact a big part of their marketing. I think its a pretty significant change by BBCE and they should be applauded. Anyway, more to the point, as with anything, buyer beware. To quote Joe Orlando. 'Never Get Cheated'

Unopened 70s/80s stuff on this board is like a 1989 New Kids on the Block concert. But in the grand scheme of the hobby there's little interest. However, those that are interested are very passionate about it.

Unfortunately, mission was only partly complete.
O thought mission was complete too.
they buy from him they can count on quality service and top shelf unopened inventory. Steve and his team are the best at what they do!
