Congrats to all of the winners! I was outbid on the one lot I was going for early in the day, but at least I didn't have to stay up late praying for a victory.
Well I won two items as well but not any unopened material. I was bidding on most all of the unopened at the very beginning just to keep watch over what they sold for. Due to Steve Hart's name being on a couple of these boxes I decided to tartet those aggressively. Two football boxes (70 and 73) and then basketball 73-74, baseball 73. Around 9:00 I narrowed it down to hitting the 70 Football and 73/4 Basketball. Sometime around 11:00 I decided to forget about the unopened because it was around $5500 each and it did not make a ton of sense paying $6700 for each. Well it occured to me that I really wanted to know what some of this stuff is worth so ran the 73/4 up to $7K, then $8K, then $9K no luck. I could hear Dave Hester in the background yelling "YEPPPP" every time I placed a bid. So went after the 1970 Football at 1:00 $7K, 8K. No chance
I think we have seen the last of 1975 Topps being opened up for group rips and I believe there are new players coming to the unopened box arena. Look out 1980's stuff ten years from now.
Looking for high grade rookie cards and unopened boxes/cases
I won the Rogers Peet Ruth card in PSA 2 that I've been looking for a while. Otherwise, the lots I wanted went super high. Closing the entire auction at the same time definitely favors West Coast bidders like me, however. I put in my winning bid at midnight PST, and only had to monitor it until 2am PST to make sure it held up.
I won the t206 Cobb green portrait psa 6, so I'm pretty stoked. And much to my (pleasant) surprise, rea gave free shipping this time. I didn't recall them messaging this from the beginning, but definitely appreciated.

That was actually a really good price on the 1972 Topps box. I almost bid on that, but have that series covered. Still thought about buying just to flip. It went for $5400 with BP, and I think could be flipped for $6500.

Very nice! I was shocked at the price for the PSA 7 ($27.5K + BP) which didn't have the best registration, and thought the PSA 6 looked almost as nice condition-wise, but with a better image (and at almost 1/3 the price).

An incredible assortment of cards & collectibles. Won 3 cheap lots but had more fun seeing the high $ stuff increase. The Ruth/Gehrig baseball jumped $200K in extended bidding and the Balt. News Ruth topped the Charlie Sheen T206 Wagner. Congrats to all the winners and looking forward to REA's inaugural Fall auction in 5 months,

Is that Grace under Pressure avatar? Just wondering because I was at Johnson City 11/2/84.
My favorite ball players throughout the years: Hank Aaron, Dale Murphy, Ellis Burks, Lance Berkman
That is definitely Grace Under Pressure. Was at all of the NY Metro area shows then and since as well as a number before...
On topic, this was my first non winning REA in 5 years. Feels kind of good actually... The stuff I wanted went sky high. The stuff I was lukewarm on, much less so. In terms of depth I didn't think this was one of the stronger offerings from REA in recent years. JMHO.

Thanks, Jeff! Still nothing like the blazer that you own!
I won a '51 Redback panel set, and I split a lot with a friend that netted me a low grade E90-2 Wagner. Now when some jacknut asks me if I have a Wagner I can show them the rarer blue background version So at the end of the day everything I made at the show yesterday went right back into the collection.
This is the first time I've seen some serious bargains in REA and I know a few friends that consigned items are upset, but that's just the way it goes I guess. Wonder if auction overload and having it in May instead of April kept prices down.
Always looking for Topps Salesman Samples, pre '51 unopened packs, E90-2, E91a, N690 Kalamazoo Bats, and T204 Square Frame Ramly's
<< <i>BTW Tim - If Steve is now offering $25k a case on mini wax, we aren't going to see any 1,700 boxes anymore. >>
Henry ought to have held on to that case for a few months longer!
Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.
Even worse...he sold it to take a run at eric's set break. I had the chance to buy it and hesitated as I wanted a shot at the break as well. he wound up outbidding me on almost everything, so I had the powder dry to have bought the case in the end and no case, nor any significant upgrade of my set... the opposite of well played on my end... sighs

Closing the entire auction at the same time definitely favors West Coast bidders like me, however. I put in my winning bid at midnight PST, and only had to monitor it until 2am PST to make sure it held up. >>
Great grab on that Rogers Peet Ruth - you got it for a heck of a price! Congrats! >>
Thanks, Jeff! Still nothing like the blazer that you own!

So at the end of the day everything I made at the show yesterday went right back into the collection.
This is the first time I've seen some serious bargains in REA and I know a few friends that consigned items are upset, but that's just the way it goes I guess. Wonder if auction overload and having it in May instead of April kept prices down.

DESCRIPTION
Expansive collection of complete sets from the 1970s and 1980s manufactured by Topps, Donruss, Fleer, Kellogg's, Score, and Sportflics. These 148 total sets, a combination of factory-issued boxes and hand-collated efforts, feature key cards of several current and future Hall of Famers as well as numerous stars of the game. This collection is highlighted by seven 1982 Topps Traded sets, which include the desirable Cal Ripken Jr. rookie card. Each of these Traded sets was opened in the year of issue by our consignor to inspect the enclosed cards, but was then carefully repacked and stored until now. The same is true for at least two dozen additional sets that come in their factory boxes but have been opened and then repacked. Included in this collection are the following: Topps: 1977 Cloth, 1979 Burger King, 1980 (x2), 1980 Burger King, 1981 (x3), 1981 Traded (x3), 1981 Burger King, 1982 (x3), 1982 Traded (x7), 1983 (x3), 1983 Traded (x2), 1984 (x2), 1984 Traded (x2), 1985 (x3), 1985 Traded (x2), 1986 (x3), 1986 Traded (x3), 1987 (x4), 1987 Traded, 1988 (x7), and 1988 Traded (x4). Fleer: 1981 (x4), 1981 Star Stickers, 1982 (x3), 1983, 1984 (x2), 1984 Update, 1985, 1986 (x2), 1986 Update (x3), 1987 (x5), 1987 Update, 1988 (x2), 1988 Update (x4). Kellogg's: 1972 All-Time Greats, 1979, 1980, 1981 (x3), 1982 (x3), and 1983 (x3). Score: 1988 (x4). Sportflics: 1986, 1986 Decade Greats, 1986 Rookies, 1987 (x2), and 1988. This is a vast collection, totaling more than 10,000 cards, that includes several of the most important cards of these two decades and provides an instant collection of affordable sets with recognizable star power. Total: 148 sets. The substantial size/weight of this item requires that there will be a shipping charge for this lot (which will vary depending upon where it is being shipped). The shipping charge will be billed separately from the auction invoice. Reserve $300. Estimate (open).

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.

Very nice! I was shocked at the price for the PSA 7 ($27.5K + BP) which didn't have the best registration, and thought the PSA 6 looked almost as nice condition-wise, but with a better image (and at almost 1/3 the price). >>
Is that Grace under Pressure avatar? Just wondering because I was at Johnson City 11/2/84. >>
Yep, as miniduff (who happens to have great taste in music) already mentioned, it is artwork from the P/G album (it's the same logo Neil used on his bass drum heads for that tour). Was my first tour also, 1984, Detroit. RUSH!

I had interest in this lot and actually called to see if I could pick it up since New Jersey is within my driving range....but the $1800 scared me away.....I was going to push it higher but would have probably just been outbid.......aren't the traded sets themselves worth about $900???

Anyone catch the RRHOF induction ceremony? Ther eis a clip they cut out on Youtube where Jan introduces each inductee and when he gets to Rush the place just freaks out after he says Toronto....really cool stuff.
I had tickets to go to that and had to cancel due to babysitting issues
