1989 Fleer sealed wax cases...

Anyone know how to figure out what cases are the early print run without opening case?

  • Good question. I have been eyeing some as well. There are eBay sellers purporting first printing etc for sealed cases and don't know how they can prove this beyond that they had another case they opened previously from the same shipment and some Ripken F-Face errors popped up. So its kinda their word. I dont know if there are any markings on the box to prove otherwise.

I cycled through a ton of these cases when they first regained life in the late 1990s, and I have never heard of a way to tell based on case (or box) markings.
Always buying 1971 OPC Baseball packs.

I read on an ebay auction some time back that a seller had several cases (cant remember how many).
Anyway he stated he had so many Error cases, so many corrected cases, and a couple he wasnt sure
of. But I cant remember if he said how he knew. Of course, that doesnt mean he was telling the truth.
Maybe someone else will chime in.
