Then again, someone at the auction house must know if that coin is close to being properly graded and at least try to provide pics commensurate with the grade.
Would we even be having this discussion if the slab had a CAC sticker?

Reminds me of August 2008 when I submitted about 10 1972 T-2 Ikes just to have them certified for online sales. I figured the grades of MS-63 and MS-64. Three of these coins were graded MS-69!!!

Concidering that the total pop is 24 for MS67 PCGS 2008-D and one person made 20 ofthem on one submission from one original mint roll, your answer might be in this thread
As far as your question in the title, I will let you speculate what and how
Nasty looking piece if the image is accurate. The bagginess of the obv. is bad, but that mark of Zorro on the top of the shield would make me cast it back into the pile. I imagine the coin is a mechanical error. However, I have had submissions over-graded on RARE occasions. Six Sigma is five nines quality, or 99.9997% error free. I have no idea if PCGS achieves that quality, but they offer a guaranty for their misses.

That's true of about 90% of their listings lately. Saw something in this week's listings I'd like, but the opening bid is crazy high IMO.
