The face of every team>

This will be both fun and interesting.Let's name the "iconic" face of every MLB franchise. You can debate the picks, but for every team, only one person gets first hack. I get the 3-1 'get it over' fastball...thrown by Jamie Moyer. ![image](https://us.v-cdn.net/6027503/uploads/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif)
NYY = Babe Ruth
Next team and player?

I agree! And appreciate a person who swings the bat! Winfield and Hoffman are a distant 2nd and 3rd IMHO.

Agreed. Molitor comes to mind as does Cecil Cooper. But you are on spot!
<< <i>This one is a closer race....Did you see Santo Alcala in his prime? JK Again, I agree although Bench is a strong consideration. >>
I considered Bench, and I think its very close. Both are iconic in a Reds uniform, both names are generally household or "classic sounding". But I gave the edge to Rose.

All great picks...but, you can only have one. Part of the allure. Who do you feel strongest about?
<< <i>Brooklyn Dodgers - Jackie, of course >>
Now, we are cookin'. What about the Dodgers as a franchise?
Personally, I'd go Koufax...the best LHP in history in my view.

I agree that the LA Dodgers would be Koufax.
In my mind though, Brooklyn and LA might as well be separate teams. They really changed personalities when they moved to the West Coast.

<< <i>Still fairly easy calls (we are not in Joe Carter terroritory yet) But one of the most underrated players ever, Rogers Hornsby and the prototypical RH power pitcher (Bob gibson) come to mind too. It would have been Pujols had he stayed. >>
You can add Ozzie Smith into the mix too. As great as all the players you have mentioned were none of them can hold a candle to Stan the Man here in St. Louis. Stan was loved by so many generations of Cardinals fans.. Young & Old alike.

Most of these were kind-of no-brainers. I'll go with Williams, as that's the only one that I could really get a fight on.

Unless you are going to go wayyy back I don't think there can be much arguement

Being a life-long Michigan resident, I have to go with Kaline. I never even saw him play, being just a couple years too young. However, between the very long historic career he had with 100% of it in a Tigers uniform, plus a very long broadcasting career for the franchise after that, I really can't imagine anyone being more synonymous with the Detroit Tigers than Al Kaline. It really feels to me like Cobb is a statistically fantastic player who is fun to brag that he played for Detroit and take pride in his on-field accomplishments, but it more or less stops there, where Kaline is the Tigers, revered in every sense. I think if you didn't grow up in the Detroit area, it may be easier to imagine Cobb above Kaline, but I'm willing to be that anyone from here will pick Kaline first.

I agree on Brooks. Cal is my childhood hero, but Brooks has done more for baseball in Baltimore than anyone. There is a reason the community built the statue outside of Oriole Park for Brooks. Cal is a close 1b. Without the streak, it's not even close.

IMO, The A's are a tough one since their best players didn't spend as many years with the franchise as other teams' top guys. Reggie Jackson didn't play all that many seasons with the A's. I might consider Mickey Cochrane, Lefty Grove, Catfish, Frank Baker, and Jimmie Foxx in the discussion for them as well. Personally, I vote you skip the A's players altogether and you just have to go with Connie Mack as the face of the franchise instead. Nothing can approach his 50 consecutive years of managing that franchise.

<< <i>A's - Rickey Henderson or Reggie Jackson? >>
In terms of the Oakland A's...
I think it's close but Reggie was the guy that put the Oakland A's on the map. While we still love the guy, many of us were sorely disappointed when he chose to go into the Hall of Fame as a Yankee and we do hold that against him a bit.
Rickey is Oakland through and through, but he had a pretty darn good team to back him up. Reggie was the offense on a team built around pitching and defense and made as much news with his mouth as his bat.
I suppose you could make a case that Billy Beane would like to be the face of the franchise. As GM he doesn't keep anyone around long enough for fans to get attached to.
To take the question quite literally though, hands down it's this guy.

If you mean the Oakland A's, then yes, there is definitely good reason to agree here. But if we're talking about the Athletics franchise, including Phillie/K.C./Oakland as a package deal, then I think it is still Mack.

I will put my 2¢ in on this
Braves- Aaron is my choice, he wore that uniform proudly for so many seasons and across many generations
Rockies- Larry Walker would be my choice here as he helped put the team on the map
Blue Jays- The WS homerun does put Joe Carter in the spotlight
Marlins- I would have to go a few years before Hanley, say Alex Gonzalez or Dontrelle Willis
and last but not least
Indians- Ricky "Wild Thing" Vaughn
