What are some of the ploys used on Ebay to try to get you to buy?

I'll start it off.

Seller shows you a fantastic coin on the end of a "so called" unsearched roll.

well, if a seller is selling a coin ... it does make sense to entice the buyer into buying the coin. you do still have the option to pass.

Totally agree there is little to no reward for wasting time on the shysters when fair and honest sellers are always available.

I prefer they discuss the negative factors in the coin,
    In other words,
What is holding it back from a higher grade

A real turn off is discussing how it will up grade

I have found BluCC photos send a clear message that it is a collector selling and that there is value add. I don't think I have ever not had a properly priced coin with a Todd photo sell in a day or two.

Misrepresenting the population is a big ploy...

I see a seller of 2012 W Burnished ASE's graded PCGS 69 First Strikes claiming the POP is less than 400...

when in fact last time I looked it was 2,500, and throw in the white gloved hand holding the slab and we have complete nonsense.

All the dang STARS in the title trying to make you think the coin has been graded with a STAR or a PLUS.

And my favorite, Should Grade Higher or Way Under Graded.

More nonsense by the white gloved seller of the 2012 w burnished silver eagle pcgs coins.

NOT ONLY IS THIS COIN IN THE HIGHEST GRADE POSSIBLE. IT IS ALSO
A FIRST STRIKE COIN, THAT MEANS IT WAS ONE OF THE FIRST COINS MINTED
BY THE US MINT AND THEN IMMEDIATELY GRADED BY PCGS.

FIRST STRIKE COINS ARE ALWAYS THE MOST PRISTINE AND BEST LOOKING COINS

BECAUSE THEY ARE MINTED AND STRUCK WHEN THE DIES ARE PERFECT.
OVER TIME, AFTER THOUSANDS UPON THOUSANDS OF COINS STRUCK. THE DYES ARE WORN. THE EARLY RELEASES ARE ALWAYS THE MOST PERFECT AND STUNNING OF ALL, THEY ONLY GET WORSE AS EACH COIN IS PROGRESSIVELY STRUCK.

THIS IS YOUR CHANCE TO OWN AN EXTREMELY RARE EAGLE AT A FRACTION OF WHAT IT WILL BE WORTH LATER WHEN MORE NEWS SINKS IN TO MORE COLLECTORS ON THE SHORTAGE AND LOW MINTAGE OF THIS COIN. THIS COIN WILL BE WORTH THOUSANDS!!

Last coin I bought on ebay I asked the seller about the quality of the coin
because the pics made it look great. He admitted the pics are better then
the coin in hand but still great looking. So I went to buy it now and there
was a 20% reduction in price. Coin does look very good in hand.
