It is my great pleasure to welcome you Taylor to the PCGS coin forum! My hope is that your time here will be inspiring and rewarding, and that you will have the opportunity to see that PCGS is a global leader in advancing numismatics on many levels, in many areas. You will soon discover that PCGS is not just about coins and tokens. More importantly, it promises a uniquely stimulating experience and a sense of belonging to a greater community of collectors and dealers in this magnificent hobby of ours.

I remember vividly my first introduction to PCGS back in 1986. Although I was somewhat overwhelmed by the sheer size of the initial announcement, it was invigorating meeting fellow scholars/hobbiest/dealers, and collectors whom I had known previously only by name. Your interest and involvement in the PCGS community will increase over the years; likewise, PCGS has itself evolved in many ways. The most noticeable change, from my viewpoint, is that PCGS has grown into what I would call an ambicultural organization: one that brings together the best of disparate—even opposing—elements to create a vibrant new whole. Our community, integrating the best of East and West, global and local, tradition and innovation, volunteerism and professionalism, research and teaching, and scholarship and service, will only continue to grow and thrive. Each one of you is a critical piece of our continuous ambicultural drive for professionalism and humanity. Together, we will bring the best of the world to Numismatics, and the best of the coin collecting brotherhood to the world. Thank you for joining us!

    Edited to add:
Please take advantage of all the advice posted in this “Forum Rules” section (stickied up above for your convenience). It has been created by PCGS leadership who are dedicated to paving the way for the next generation of collector. I wish you the very best here with this coin forum, and hope your inaugural member experience will be as unforgettable as mine!

I suggest posting less, reading more and develop a few relationships. You can learn a lot or nothing at all on this forum depending on your perspective. Good luck with your collection.

I see that you haven't taken the serious advice that was offered here before about NOT using your given name in your profile.

Think of a fun pseudonym to plug in there, or make your profile private. Be safe. If you need personal recognition by your given name, understand the risk involved.

Taylor, using your full name is optional, and absolutely not required to be a member of the message boards. In fact, most people prefer keeping that type of sensitive info confidential.

In that case, I would turn off the feature that allows people to see your profile. Anonymity is a very valuable thing. Many others on this forum agree.
