I dug this up yesterday and its obviously a replica of the $20 Saint Gaudens. Its very small and my guess is its gold plated, and the gold plate has worn off in spots and the metal underneath has corroded a bit. I have seen them listed on ebay but the others did not have quite the same edge design, the others being plain and this one having ridges.

- weighs 0.014 oz, 0.013 oz troy
- 1 cm diameter
- 1 mm thickness
- slight bowl shape to it, convex on the obverse, concave on the reverse

No idea of the origin of the item...but I bet it gave you a thrill when you found it. Cheers, RickO

I have a Garret 250 so its not the most accurate detector, but its giving a consistent signal in the gold range of 5c to pulltab.

Must have been an adrenaline rush getting a gold signal and seeing it come out. It's still better than a bottle cap though!
