Poppage - Tickled.

Can't complain about the negative surprises (like the mini's and 71's) when you get the big hits. The 73's all came from an ebay lot billed as Ex/Mt. Gotta love it.

My previous, oldest self-popped 10 was a 1974 Rose/Carew Ldrs, so am happy about that too. One of the cards, Alou, is the first 10 ever. Am, obviously, tickled.

Isn't Mike the guy who picked up a sharp 1971 partial set that had high numbers in superb shape? If so Mike, did you ever grade those out and how did you do?

That was me on the 71's. I wasn't thrilled with the results, but will admit to being no expert on 71's.

I sent in about 100 and got about 60 PSA 7's, 30 PSA 8's, and about 10 6's/N6's. Nothing to complain about, but nothing earth-shattering. I really felt there were a few 9's in there.

SGC 88 Crackout from Fritsch - added it when I bought those two '71 Ryans a couple of weeks ago.

I wish I sent in the Ryan's with this batch, while the grader was in such a great mood!

Exactly, my friend -- a Yahtzee of Yahtzees.

Thanks all - will throw up some scans when they get here. I really think it was the backs that earned the great grades - the gold was very bold, and the black was dark and the edges were great. The backs really pop on these.

I can sympathize. I've submitted a few thousand 71s over the years and only got 5 or 6 9s out of all those cards. I've also busted a cello and rack and neither produced a 9. From the scans you provided, I agree that there should have been more 8s and some 9 candidates in that set. Perhaps some crack and resubs are in order?
