Number of Morgan Dollars on eBay declining ?

Current count 46,561. Sounds like a lot. Too early to see if it's a trend, but it's down a few thousand from it's recent highs.

The point I'm making is we are seeing shortages in ASE's, 100 ounce bars, etc. Junk silver is in short supply too.

There's a TON of good pure silver out there, but you need to get a wider net. Instead of Morgans and ASE why not buy some maple leafs, year of the snakes, somali elephants, etc. silver is silver you might even get a better deal per oz image

Silver is always silver until you try to sell it here and they want to whack you on price because it isn't the right kind. I wonder if those willing to pay $6 over spot for ASEs would be willing to pay $6 over spot for silver rounds.

Right now is a good time to get rid of your silver that isn't the "right kind" .

Demand is high and I've been selectively dumping 50% Canadian , 80% canadian dimes, british 50% etc.

Right now the right kind is 90% , ASE's , morgans etc. If you need to raise cash that stuff will sell quick but, why not dump the other stuff? Its more work but this period of the market is a good time to correct some mistakes .

For instance 2 weeks ago I sold some 50% coins at an a 23$ an ounce after fees price. That may not sound great but when silver was $30 an ounce I tried to dump the same stuff and no one wanted it.

For a while I had a thing for 50% florins and half crowns and collected a lot of them but the rest of the market didn't share my enthusiasm for the stuff. Now its someone else's problem and the exit was basically painless.

There are a lot of areas where you own a form of silver that is very cool to you but when you go to sell it no one cares. You get offers way back of spot and it can be depressing.

This is the time to part with it. Get over it , get rid of it and get on with it. image

U.S. silver coins will, here in the U.S., always be the preferred and easiest to liquidate silver. Cheers, RickO

Lots of wisdom in the above. Some material is "hard to move" because most buyers don't want to buy it in the first place, that way they won't get "stuck" with it later.

Every cycle of metals fluctuations, more "junk" gets turned into "premium" metal by melting and refining it into Brand Name .999 Bars and rounds with attractive (sometimes retro, or tribute) designs such as women, native Americans, animals like eagles, buffalos, dragons, etc, and items with patriotic and whimsical themes such as flags, "congratulations" type items, and "hard times tokens" and special interest medallions.

Of course, some of the above "premium" items can become "junk" next time around through the refiner. image
