Tomorrow's gems. I bought a Joe louis card from there recently. The owner is super nice. Nice pickup.

  • 1986 Mike Tyson Italian Panini card prices are complete bs right now- appears to be a common scam of selling cards between a group of people to drive up the price- it’s a penny stock scam as well. I mean psa 5s for 6k? The card isn’t even rare- sell if you can but imo I wouldn’t buy one now if they were a tenth of what they are asking

It isn't just Panini that are going nuts. Raw copies of his basic 1991 Ringlords are routinely selling for close to $50. Do a search on EBAY under sports cards for Mike Tyson and you will see explosive results across all segments of his cards.

If memory serves me you had a PSA 9 and then weeks later had it on EBAY. Are you still an owner or on the outside looking in?

  • Has anyone ever seen or heard of a Ringlords Tyson without the black lettering in the name on front?

  • Thanks. I never noticed either. I didn't see it until I took the picture. I thought maybe it was the sunlight and tried to take another photo before realizing it. Lol.

  • Does anyone have any information on the large and small "sample" stamping?

  • No- you are probably thinking of me bitching about not being able to sell the sports king golds ( I have 3) or the Ringlords without a stamp maybe . I don’t even care about the Panini and don’t like the card that much - if you look at the sold ones only 4-5 have sold for excessive pricing. I’m just saying people are listing them for over 100k which is comical. My fav Tyson is still my Allen Ginger (with him sitting). I think it’s the best Tyson card and it would take a LOT for me to sell

  • No. Some Tyson Ringlords have a large "sample" stamp and some are small.
Regarding the Golds, I have given up doing auctions. Just do a buy it now. Tyson was hot and quick selling in late July. Everything I put up sold. Would sell 2or 3 of a card and bump it up $5. Then everyone started posting them. It is flooded with Tyson now. And the fight has been delayed. It may get hot again right before the fight(if it happens).
The Kinder chocolate is a unique card. I was in Germany in 2000 and that was my favorite candy there. I began seeing it here within the last 3 years.

  • Yea I have it for sale now and lots watching it but no one biting. It’s certainly rare

I have some raw copies and noticed the variance in the size of the sample stamp. No clue why.

With prices up I figured we would see some of the stamped back 10’s pop up for sale. Not seeing any.

The Panini is just scorching hot. A board member sold his 87 UK back PSA 6 for over 2k the other day. Love it!

  • Really ? Wow. You know the last card I made a mint on was the Topps Mike Trout rookie - I got over $2800 for it and paid a fraction of that. I believe that card is still hot . I’m not sure what it is about the panini . Then again, there are nicer looking trout cards . The tyson fight isn’t going to happen I don’t think- and if it does apparently it’s going to just be sparring basically

    The Panini is the rookie.

It is a picture of Kid Dynamite from Dec of 85. Panini has a deep history for boxing stickers so it was natural for collectors to seek it out.

  • Any insights on either of these Tyson cards:

Adam, the top one is from the UK 1996 Merlin Sky Sports set. I sold a PSA 9 for ~$100 a while back, $500 wouldn't surprise me these days. Bravo's are from around that same year, but I'll have to dig exactly which one.

Bravo is a German multi-sport magazine issue over quite a few years in the 90s-at least the early 2000s (similar to SIFK cards here), I've never been able to find a complete checklist for them. eBay sellers are listing the Tyson as a 1996 also and asking crazy prices for them, though I don't see any selling for anywhere near that. I don't think PSA grades these yet, probably due to lack of a checklist, but I've seen others besides the Tyson in SGC and Beckett holders.

  • Thanks. They were in the 'chaff' of a collection I recently purchased. I like 'em so I guess I will keep them for now.

  • Hi. so back in the late 80's early 90's i worked at a printing firm that printed the ring lords here in the uk. so all the cards were printed inc the mike tyson card. but i understand that the job went to print before they hard permission to use mike tyson and they wanted to much money to use his image. so all the mike tyson cards were ordered to be destroyed!. fortunately some survived although not many. i have a boxed set with mike and no sample marks obviously, think i might put the set up for sale as card collecting not my bag really.
