1991 Players International Ringlords Mike Tyson Not Sample Stamped.....PSA Scans Added...

I have been actively working on my Mike Tyson registry set and I am focused on his early cards. I am not inclined at the moment to go after his recent cards but you never know.
One of the cards I recently crossed off the list was his sample stamped 1991 Players International Ringlords card in PSA 10.

After doing so I needed to go after the other card in the registry from this set and it is a version with no sample stamp on the back. I did a search online for Mike Tyson cards and came up with this website that explains why the non stamped version is so much more rare. Apparently it was only inserted in five card cello test packs.

I found a BGS 9 and kept it on my watch list for a few months. I finally put in an offer and recently purchased it and got it in the mail today. It is an old label BGS holder and looked to be strong in the case. I planned to send it to PSA so I cracked it out and I think it is very sharp. At this moment in time there have only been 4 graded with 70 of the sample stamped version. I think this is a pretty cool Mike Tyson card and I really happy to add it to my collection.

This is the first PSA example I have seen sell on EBAY.

The 1991 Ringlords Mike Tyson is a great looking card but is really not very rare and there are a decent amount of them in strong condition.
This card is substantially more limited so it makes for a very cool Mike Tyson card.

The card I bought was graded in June of 2001 and I looked up another recent sale from EBAY and that card was graded at the same time.
I realize this card is not insanely scarce but if you have at most 16 of them graded by PSA and BGS combined it is still somewhat limited and clearly the harder to find version of the two.
The PSA 9's of late seem to be selling in the $25 to $28 range. I bought both of my stamped PSA 10's for $40 shipped which I thought was a fair price. There was one out-lire sale that went for $21.00.

I guess I should have been more patient when I auctioned off one of my PSA 10 copies for like $50 bucks. LOL

The copy I own that resides in a PSA 10 holder came from a BGS 9 so whomever purchased your Gem Mint copy really got taken to the cleaners.

Thanks Dpeck. You know what I've noticed since I've sent in cards to Beckett for appraisal? They simply go by what it last sold for. So, i got an incredible deal but i bet Beckett thinks its worth $700 now. Probably helps you out. I will say I cant find any others for sale- if you find any, let me know. I will scoop as many up as possible. Mind as well post yours for a grand!!!
anyone know the value of a Mike Tyson Kinder Chocolate Card?
Has PSA graded any of these yet? I’ve seen a few ungraded examples in the past, but no selling price. I’ve heard they are pretty rare.
There were a few of these that were listed over the past couple of months on EBAY. I got this image from a Google search. I know nothing of the origin or how they were distributed.
Kinder is a Brand of chocolate here in Germany. A common way to distribute is in chocolate eggs called Kinder Eggs. Inside is a prize or toy...similar to Cracker Jacks.
I hadn't seen that Tyson before. Super cool.

Anyone know why the Panini Supersport Tyson is going up so much?
The card has been in a trading range for a few years now and PSA updates the SMR on a few key cards from boxing frequently and this is one. It had pulled back from the peak and has moved back up some.
As for why it has gone up. It is Tyson's rookie and it should be relatively expensive.

Top level Tyson cards and stickers are strong. His popularity will never die because he was a wrecking machine. Not a pin point dancing puncher but a one punch go to sleep bomb thrower.

Yes, it is . I snagged it right away after the seller basically told me to F off after I tried to get him to lower the price . I never see them for sale . I’m happy with it - maybe I will send it in for an appraisal

Agree. And do you ever see these for sale? I have been looking for some time and have never seen one. Even the "top 10 Tyson cards" article points out the difficulty in finding them. I think if you have a 10, I wouldn't take a dime under 3k for it. Seriously.
They do not come up for sale much as most are sitting in private collections. I know one issue that exists with many limited print run cards is some are still in packs as the unopened prices are not economical to open. I am not sure to what degree that impacts this set but it could be an issue that is suppressing the supply even further.
I bought it from a seller who had it listed for $1,500 originally and once he had it down to $825 I offered $400 or $425 and he agreed. I was shocked the offer was accepted and glad I made it. I think the design is awesome and Tyson did a nice job signing them. Years later he has tons of certified auto's but only one can be the first and a Topps product in my view is far superior to a Leaf product and other offerings.

Agreed. And like many other athletes, something that really bothers me about the aesthetics of Tyson's Leaf cards by comparison is that almost all of them are signed stickers placed on the card rather than being direct on-card, and his signature is almost always too large to fit the sticker and is cut off awkwardly when the factory peeled them to apply to the cards.
Was very pleased to get this in the mail today. It is either getting cracked to sub or cracked to get signed by Tyson.

Is it me, or did all the whiteness on the back from the BGS 9 crackout now gone in a PSA 10 holder?
Maybe it scans different in the holder. Not sure what you are seeing.
There's no white showing in the PSA 10 especially that right bottom corner on the back. Now the right back edge is being covered by the holder so I can't see the whiteness there, but that lower right corner doesn't show any white no matter how big I blow it up. Not trying to make trouble.....just sayin.
