It'd have to be between 58 and 63. As it is early copper, and struck rather well, I'll guess 63; however, significant bag marks bring it down to 62.

Then give it a cross, but (IMHO) you risk losing the "RB" designation

I would guess the coin would cross and maybe a little better at that. Nice coin and a fair but conservative grade on the holder.
One simply does not see copper that early with that much red in the market very often.

If the coin is submitted for a cross please post the result.

All my SEGS coins crossed at higher grades.
But I do think yours has a real shot at a higher grade....but I'd like it best as a BN....say PCGS 62-63 BN.

I would have said MS62 BN shot RB.

On early copper, PCGS does give a little more leeway for red-brown.

To me, it is easily a MS-63RB.

Looks nice! It looks like it'll cross easily. 61RB or 62RB seem like reasonable grades. You'll want to bust it out, though, and not just to avoid the crossover tax. Sometimes I've notice that stuff I've cracked out of SEGS slabs has a tacky film on the edge of the coin, easily cleaned up with acetone or rubbing alcohol. It's not PVC damage, as there's no green goo or other discoloration as a result, and the gasket they use is inert. Cracking one of these open is best done by standing the slab on one of its long edges on a concrete floor and then whacking the other long edge sharply with a hammer. One or two blows often pops the slab open. If you try a tile nippers, you'll be at it for quite a while.

The technical grade is MS-61 or 62. There are a lot of marks on the face and the right field that would preclude MS-63 IMO.

The real issue is color which impossible to do from a photo. If the coin has been messed with, and the grading service does not think that it is market acceptable, it will get a "details" grade.
