Anyone else having problems with Providence Metals?

I made a large silver purchase from Providen Metals. They sent me an e-mail on April 15 letting me know that they received my check. It's been 18 days and they have yet to ship my silver. The silver bars were in stock at the time I placed my order. Are they selling PM's that they don't have and they are waiting for a new delivery from their suppliers? I talked to some lady on the phone and she said they were very busy and my order would be shipped soon but she couldn't tell me when. Can anyone recommend a better souce for future PM purchases?

It was placed on 4/12 and they have received and acknowledged my check on 4/22.
It usually takes a couple of week to have it clear and ship.
For future purchases, I will keep giving them the majority of my business, they have the best prices around and, usually, a great service.
I am sure they have these issues because of the big drop in PM. Not defending them, I work in logistics and my warehouse can ship thousands units per day...not coins but bigger items...
The only one dealer (for small purchases) managing large volume smoothly is Apmex but they are more expensive. I'd rather wait a little longer.

I think its just that they are behind schedule.
I purchased first week of april and my check cleared etc. Some of the items in my purchase were a gift and when the order wasn't shipping, I had to call. They told me they had so many orders the weeks of April 8th and 15th that the order would be delayed a few weeks. After some pleading with them, explaining the circumstances and being put on hold a few times, they expedited my order and it made it here in time. Even though my order was placed the week before and should have made it here in plenty of time - the fact that my check didn't clear until the 12th - that is what they considered my order date.

The large order received last week the small order of any date 1/10oz AGE still not shipped yet.
and still waiting for 2013 Monster box from Tulving, order placed 4/4, longest I've ever waited from them.

Some NTR and OPM silver bars that they had in stock at the time they confirmed my order.

<< <i>Well, it's been three weeks since they confirmed that they got my payment. They still haven't shipped my order. I'll call them tomorrow as if that'll make any difference. >>
Well I must say that I thank you for this thread.

The delay, especially in such a volatile PM market as currently exists is altogether unacceptable.
As one cannot sell merchandise one does not have, you have been denied the opportunites that you paid for. In advance.
Provident has had your good funds for 3/52'nds of one year with no adjustment for the time value of money. That in and of itself is unacceptable IMO.

Lack of communication, verbal BS, malarkey, whateverUwanna call it... all smells identical to me.
They'll never see a peso of mine. Nor, I imagine, another of yours.

You will get your stuff eventually. Outright theft isn't their game.

Thank you again for sharing your experience that none of the rest of us ever shall.

I just called them (day 22 after they acknowledge receiving my check) and they said they ran out of the bars that I ordered. I pointed out that they were in stock at the time I made my order and committed to their quoted price. He said that may be true but they don't reserve silver bars until after the check clears assuming they actually have the bars in stock to reserve. He said I should be getting them in about two weeks.

<< <i>I finally got my order last week. I think all the PM dealers are having trouble keeping up with demand. I guess you need to be patient if you want to order from them which isn't a problem with me since I don't plan to sell them any time soon. >>
same here

The Mint delayed their 5 ozers for several months so this might (and I emphasize might) indicate a supply problem in addition to the robust demand.
I knew it would happen.
<< <i>They were shipped yesterday! A local dealer told me about a 30 day demand Law, where they have to be shipped to you within 30 days or you can ask for a full refund? Never heard of this before. >>
I'm not sure this applies when they warn you that shipping is delayed in their web listing. Also, you have to agree to their "terms and conditions" which may give them an out.
