UV Protection

I recently bought a 5 baseball glass display that has 50% UV protection. I dont keep any of my items where direct sunlight can hit them. So my question is will the 50% protection be enough to protect my auto baseballs from discoloration?

Hi there. Lack of direct sunlight helps a lot. Minimizing indirect sunlight is a real plus. Fluorescent and incandescent lights give off UV light. If you can afford them, LED lights typically give off almost no UV light. All that said, I would generally be comfortable displaying a baseball in a 50% UV blocking case and no direct sunlight. I'm assuming we aren't talking about a four or five figure signature.
Always buying 1971 OPC Baseball packs.

As Esquire was saying florescent and halogen light can pulverize a signed ball. I believe Ultra Pro has UV rated archive cubes which may not look as nice but preserve a lot better. To me any signature I value stays locked away and I display the stuff which I value less or is to some degree replaceable.

Ultra pro uv cubes are 98% effective.

  • I got the display from perfectcases.com. My dresser is in a corner of the room way away from the window, but of course I cant avoid our room light unless I switch to flashlights...image. I was going to display my Mays, Aaron, Griffey, Rose and Mantle balls in the case
